The FBI searched the residence of the son of a Democratic state lawmaker in Tennessee over the weekend looking for evidence linking the young man to the hacking of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin's personal e-mail account, two law enforcement officials told The Associated Press on Monday.

David Kernell, 20, has not returned repeated phone calls or e-mails from the AP since last week. His lawyer said Monday the family is going through a difficult period.

“He knows he did it, they know he did it, hell he bragged that he did it, but the chain of evidence is going to be a bear in this case.”

If I remember my high school law class, bragging publicly about committing a crime is considered a legally admissable confession.

Unless of course, the judge is a Zero supporter, in which case we’d better start a fundraiser for the legal defense of the FBI agents who did the search.

So what. Stupid people support candidates. That doesn’t mean, absent some contrary evidence, that the candidate supports the stupid person. Get some evidence, and then make the claim. Otherwise, you are no better than the Dem slimes.

I think you’re right, but that only works if he said it to someone who is willing to stand up and swear under oath that he said it. Actually I think it would take at least two or more witnesses to make that happen, or it would be a “he said, she said” thing.

And heresy witnesses would not be admissible.

I have no doubt the FBI is going to do there best to make this kid uncomfortable. But I am sure he’s dad has got him a very good lawyer and there’s not going to be too much they can do.

If it gets to court, the defense is going to play the stuff-shirt-big-baddies against the poor little “Dennis-the-Menace” type college kid who didn’t mean any harm and just wanted to have a little fun.

Depending on the jury, it would probably have a good chance of working.

Bottom line, I don’t think we should waste time on this. It had the potential to be serious, but it really wasn’t.

In fact, if anything, the outrage that resulted from his contemptible behavior probably solidified a good deal of sympathy and support for Palin because it so clearly illustrated the depths to which the DemocRATS are willing to descend.

No need to squeeze blood from a turnip. His fellow rats are going make his life miserable enough as it is.

Off to jail wi’ ye!!

[David Kernell is an economics major at the University of Tennessee there.]

Not anymore. He seems to have matriculated to “Big Bubba U.” where he will be majoring in proctology.

Follow the money. Benedict Arnolds like the Kernell family may have, that's may have received some monetary reward for this event. Follow the money!

This is the same lot that thought that the Patriot Act was an invasion of privacy.

I would bet you a malted milk that the 20 year old has done this hacking attack hundreds of times. L.E. agencies need to look into the possibility that Kernell has done this to many people. What say you.

I doubt if they’re going to get much.

The other Hussein got the WMD out to Syria (B/C there was a media heads-up, and stalling tactics)... The MSM gave the little ba$tard enough lead=time to erase his www.tracks...

Um . . . kind of a misleading headline inside the ( ), eh? Nothing in that link about O

His My Space page listed his political affiliation as an "OBAMACRAT."

Is that enough evidence for you?

I hope the mouthpiece is exploring pleading out and making a deal to implicate any co-conspirators up the food chain. Was this kid a lone actor or the stooge for other people?

This is a terrorist act. The left is awfully quiet. This has vast implications for the entire internet, identity security, financial protection, our bank accounts, our credit cards, our whole lives. Nothing is safe and this act will drive confidence out of the integrity of the system, and impede freedom and progress. This terrorist in training should be given the maximum sentence. Throw the book!

Wrong.

A message has to be sent to everyone that hacking anyone for any reason, (unless its al-Qa’eda’s site), will be dealt with swiftly and in the most draconian manner possible.

Its called the deterrent effect.

Make an example of this little turd.

“Was this kid a lone actor or the stooge for other people?”

It’s a long story.

Yes, he was a lone actor, and he ended up feeling like a stooge for other people.

To put it into perspective, he hacked the account, because that is what he and his web friends do.

He wanted to expose Sarah Palin. But, he found nothing.
He happily announced it on the website where these hackers exchange news of their latest accomplishments.

Then, the media got a hold of it. He removed the info which had her account and password, from the website.

He was worried that the FBI would be after him, since it got national attention via the MSM. (and he was right)

He did give the info to another web-warrior, or whatever catch phrase they use for themselves. That ‘friend’ reposted the info, and , IIRC, changed the password, which really sent the FBI into overdrive.

Anyway, that is supposedly straight from the horse’s mouth.

Well, maybe hacking peoples emails was what he used to do but I think there are millions of Americans that will be watching to see this will wimp get the book thrown at him. Just imagine what he would have done IF he found something!!! What a weasel...
