Magnetogram
A new sunspot is emerging in the sun's northern hemisphere. After several months of almost-relentlessly blank suns, "this is like a breath of fresh plasma," says photographer Pete Lawrence who sends this picture from Selsey, UK. The magnetic polarity of the emerging spot identifies it as a member of new Sunspot Cycle 24.
“I dont want to disprove the global warming weenies at the expense of famine and misery from a long stretch of cold climate.”
People don’t learn if they don’t suffer from their idiocies. We need the mini ice age, and we need it to be severe enough to make people want to stone the GW fools. We also need for this financial crisis to come to a head now, rather than later, for the ensuing enlightening (hopefully involving a lot of tar and feathers).
People don’t learn unless they are held accountable. It’s just the nature of the species.
is that a speck of dust on my monitor, or the sunspot? :)
Huzzah! for propagation!
We are still going to be cold this winter. South Africa has had some historic snow the past week or two. If the sun spot numbers ramp up quickly (doubtful), we will still be as cold this winter as last, but less snow then last year. If the sunspot numbers stay low, we will have more cold this winter then last and just as much snow as last year. The solar wind affect on cloud formation is in real time. The heating effect from a more energetic sun takes time to warm the Earth. Just look at summer here in the states when the warmest months occur after the solar irradiance peak. Not before.
There IS a little black spot on the sun today lol
You’d think the global warming crowd could planet better than this.
Goodness, let's hope it doesn't. There are other ways to keep warm.
Agreed. Still to early to say everything is back to normal. And there are still questions about the solar wind and why the sun's "conveyor belt" seems to have slowed down.
Obviously the Sun needs a bailout.
