Blame Rests With Dodd

Sen. Christopher Dodd's tiresome tactic of affecting outrage when his integrity is questioned is getting stale. Typical is his questioning the oversight of the Bush administration in relation to the Fannie Mae-Freddie Mac debacle [Commentary, Sept. 14, "Rein In Fannie, Freddie? Not Dodd"].

Despite numerous warnings, over a number of years, about the weakness in Fannie and Freddie's capital structure, our senator, chairman of the Senate banking committee, did nothing.

He, of course, did have the time to collect more than $100,000 in campaign contributions from Freddie and Fannie and managed to get himself a sweetheart mortgage deal from the industry he regulates.

Sen. Dodd is an embarrassment to the state of Connecticut and should resign his seat.

Chris Dodd has received more money from those connected and running Freddie Mac and Fannie May than any other. He stood in the way of reforms that McCain and others had wanted which would've fixed this problem before it came to this. He should resign.

Freddie Mac contributions:

Fannie Mae contributions:

Total contributions Dodd is the #1 recipient of funds from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

Dodd?
How about the whole of congress, both the senate and congress resign?
Really, it sure would benefit this country to throw the lot out like the dirty bath water they all are.

Instead of trotting out the same tired class war rhetoric about Wall Street as the Democrats (a contest the leftists will always win), and trial-ballooning absurd names like Andrew Cuomo to head the bailout watchdog list (when he’s one of the bastards who created the whole mess in the first place), why isn’t McCain highlighting the criminal incompetence of the liberals in all this? Is he keeping the backdoor open for his return to the cozy Senate club?

The same crooks who made the mess are now in charge of fixing it. Talk about the wolves guarding the henhouse. These people scare the hell out of me.

The whole congress is not responsible. Dodd should resign he is the head of the banking committee and he and Frank both stood in the way of the reforms offered by McCain which would’ve stopped this mess.

Sen. Dodd is an embarrassment to the state of Connecticut and should resign his seat.

But he won't and we keep voting him back in. Pretty sad.

Exactly. McCain initial instincts about this bailout were right. He needs to get his message straight on this. He was doing good hitting the Democrats but he should also be hitting Paulson. What was he doing? He is a liberal Democrat.

I posted along these same lines yesterday, pointing out that it was Dodd who effectually killed a bill that would have reformed the housing policy and averted this current crisis.

Bottom line, his committee took no action and the bill is gone from the books.

(Insert politician’s name here) tiresome tactic of affecting outrage when his integrity is questioned is getting stale.

Add Rangel to the list of Congressioinal Princes who need to resign.

This is exactly why Obama isn’t going to win in November. When you have a corrupt Congress, Americans want an opposing party in the White House. Nancy’s House is dirty.

It worked for Jamie Gorelick and the 9/11 Commission, right?

We’re the stupid ones.

What gets me is that Democrats are very effective at getting people to resign on the right. Why in the hell can’t we keep on message and get some of the liberal scum who are destroying this country to resign? Enough with the nice guy crap, Republicans and Democrats involved with this mess need to be called to the table and drummed out of office. Also they need to give back any campaign contributions related to these businesses that are failing.

“Enough with the nice guy crap”

I agree. We roll over way too easily. The stakes are too high for that to continue..

Maybe we could just take the top 10 Senators and Reps that Fannie/Freddie gave funds to and make it a clean sweep.

I have always said, Democrats don’t care a wit about America, all they care about is their power.

So let the drumbeat begin!

I would love to see Dodd “Daschled” this year. Only because I love my country.
