"I'm tired of rewarding institutions and people for the bad decisions they have made," said Dean from Madison, Wis. "Sure, it will hurt tax payers if/when some of these institutions fail, but perhaps we need to let that happen. We do not need more big government involved in our lives. Enough is enough."

Washington continues to FAIL this country. It is not doing its job, and this MESS is a classic example of their malfeasance and corruption.
FR 101: Corporate execs deserve lots and lots of money, regardless of their performance. Just shut up, vote Republican, and pay your tax bills. This is just class warfare, and you’re upset you’re not in corporate management of one of these entities.
Obama has to be smiling today.
This bailout, now in the hundreds of billions of dollars, is just kicking the can down the road, just delaying the inevitable, letting the problem fester and leaving it for our children.
In fact, congress and The President are doing with this almost precisely what they did on immigration "reform": Nothing. Oh, sure, they're throwing lots of money at it, but they're not going after the criminals, (as with those who violated immigration law), who've benefited so mightily from their chicanery.
Their actions are "full of sound and fury" and yet, they signify nothing.
After the Government takes over the houses there is no doubt that they will resell them to the POOR, or bundle them so fat cats from Wall Street will make billions more off of our tax $$$$.
Anyone think it was intentional? There could be some reasons that the people who own Dubya would want to sabotage a McCain/Palin administration.
If McCain votes against this bailout bill, he wins the election. Pure and simple.
For decads we have discussed the unfairness of things like the Bell Helmet company being sued when a motorcyclist wearing one of their helmets kills himself while doing a wheely at 140 MPH. The company capituolates because defending themself will cost more than they will save.
But as this sort of thing went on over the years companies learned they HAD TO fight it or they would open the floodgates to people who saw their easy capitulation as a licens to sue for quick profits, ultimately decimating the company.
Are we, the taxpayer, not playing the part of Bell Helmet above. And the large companies will get used to being able to perform irresponsibly with the confidence that if they do something really stupid, we’ll just bail them out again?
I’m tired of being someone elses net, even if it means pain for me. At least it is more “just”. And in the long run it will be better for all.
To use another analogy:
Maybe getting the leg cut off is better than just taking more morphene. It certainly will be in the long run. And the leg’s comming off one way or the other, unless you die first.
Trust me, I’m mad as hell. I fought, scrimped saved and struggled to pay my house off and I sure as hell didn’t do it so I could start paying for someone elses loans.
This is like getting mad at the drunk driver who put your child in the hospital. Getting mad doesn’t fix your child’s health. You take her to the hospital and get her fixed up. That is the fix we find ourselves in. Yes, I am furious at the greed and stupidity at all levels that has us on the edge of worlwide depression — but the time to be mad is later. Right now, we have to pull back from the abyss, if that is possible. I hate committing this money to reimburse billions squandered but I don’t see any other alternative. We have to keep the world economies from going down a toilet.
A lot of people like to call McCain a RINO. They seem to miss the overwhelming evidence that W certainly is one himself: Prescription drugs, out of control spending, almost no vetoes.
Do I need the /sarc?
This tax increase will be the death of the small business man.Our countries backbone. Not only am I mad,I find it funny that the same people that created the mess, told us there was NO problem, are now the one’s who say they can fix it,but only if we GIVE them FULL AUTHORITY AND IMMUNITY over their actions.
No he won’t. 90% of the population isn’t as against a bailout as many here are.
He has to vote against the bail-out. I could literally not have a representative running for office if he doesn’t... *sigh*
“No he wont. 90% of the population isnt as against a bailout as many here are.”
Well, 90% is high, but I’d say 75% of the electorate doesn’t know there is a problem, and even if they are aware of some sort of problem, couldn’t define it.
Many of those who are not against the bail out are going to vote Democrat anyway. If you don’t pay much in taxes anyway, why would a tax bail out bother. Isn’t the % of Americans not paying taxes 35-40%? Many of these are the defaultees on loans and may hope to get to keep the house free.
Other than the Bush-bot lap dogs, I can't find any conservatives who think GWB is anything other than a RINO or a bleeding-heart liberal in disguise. He certainly isn't conservative by any stretch of the imagination. Needless to say, we have not been impressed with the man for some time now.
I dunno about that. I think a lot of people assume (probably correctly) that the potential for lost income, wealth, and jobs is a lot bigger of a loss than their taxes going towards a bailout and might support it for that reason.
