I laughed hard yesterday (causing my toddlers to ask what’s so funny),

Typical lib. Anything to get out of work. Look, she left SNL after the 2005-06 season. She developed the show 30 Rock for NBC, and stars in it and has written or co-written twelve episodes, as well as doing some producing. This was a one-off thing - for political AND artistic/workload resaons, she'd rather not keep on doing it.
