This is the end of era with so much baseball history associated with Yankee stadium that included some of the greatest baseball players of all time. I am saying that as a baseball fan not a Yankee's fan.

Just watched the pregame ceremonies.
The introduction of Bobby Murcer’s wife and kids was emotional, as was Bernie Baseball’s first [and last] return to The Stadium.
No George, though. He must be in a bad way.

I was watching some of the ceremony on ESPN2 earlier. I nearly teared up when Yogi Berra made his way out to Home Plate.
Go Phils!

I watched the pregame ceremonies as well. I saw a program recently that said George Steinbrenner was in bad shape and didn’t recognize people now.
Watching the pregame made me go find this article. I cannot believe after so many years that the stadium is going to be gone.

I am with you on Yogi Berra — loved the guy! They were saying that some people had been there for six hours as fans were allowed on the field prior to the game. I WAS a Reds fans but am disgusted with their fire sale this summer.

Listening to John Batchelor and also watching the Yankees.
A Yankee fan since the 1950s and my fav. was Yogi Berra.
My grandfather saw Babe Ruth play at Yankee Stadium, my NY, NJ side of the family.
Yankee Stadium is a national landmark and holy ground

Yogi was my favorite Yankee as well. Some of his comments are classic!
I just hate to see a stadium with so much history go away.

I watched Yogie watch Mazeriski’s home run go over left center field when the Pirates beat the Yankees at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh (1960). He was playing left field.

My son flew from Phoenix to catch yesterday's game. He went to ground Zero as well. He had to go home today, but it was still a grand memory in time for him.

With so much of our history being trashed, Yankee Stadium is one of the final blows.
Yogi was the best bad ball hitters.
Former Yankee and Marine pilot, Gerry Coleman has been a radio broadcaster for years for the Padres .
Two Yankees who pitched no hitters, Don Larsen and David Wells were both grads of Pt. Loma High School here in San Diego

This is all such BS!
This isn't "The House that Ruth Built." It isn't the field where Mantle and Maris played. It isn't the place where Summerall kicked the 49 yard field goal in the snow. All the current (soon to be demolished) Yankee Stadium has in common with the place where Yogi was Yogi and Mel Allen talked about Ballantine Blasts is the location of home plate. It was specifically reconstructed in such a manner that would make playing football there a dangerous proposition. (So far as I am aware, only one football game was ever played there after the new Stadium opened in 1976.) Pretending that this is the same place where Huggins managed is a joke.
