Has anyone directly asked him what he meant when he said...”If the political winds take an ugly turn I will side with the Muslims.”?
I know he was talking to Pakistanis at the time, so just what did he mean by that??

He meant that if there was persecution (in the aftermath of 9/11) he would protect the muslims.
Presumably
