Hinkley was nuts and tried to murder someone, in this case the president. This kids a dumb punk and that is no excuse for criminal behavior. Once again it’s a first offense (probably) probation, fines, community svc. This would be a waste of prison space. His actions weren’t likely to cause physical harm to another (unlike drug dealers whom we need the cell space for).
