How much will he make this year?
Question/Comment: Last year Lehman Brothers' CEO Richard Fuld, Jr. made $71 million. Today his company collapsed. How much will he make this year?
Paul Solman: I don't know about this year. You've covered last. In 2006, according to Forbes.com, he was the 5th highest-paid CEO in America: "Total Compensation $122.67 mil; 5-Year Compensation Total $375.81 mil."
And to think, everything he did was derivative!
Wonder which candidate he contributes to...
I believe that the CEOs need to be held accountable - no money left, then you have no money either - give it back! I’m tired of these greedy b$%^^(* getting their money while the underlings get screwed. CEOs at Enron went to jail and had to sell off their earnings (well, Ken Lay did before he dropped dead of a heart attack)... HOLD them accountable! NO compensation for FAILURE!
Yep. Sucks to be us.
A-Rod’s making $28 m for a non-playoff team.
George Clooney gets paid millions for being in flops.
I’ll bet if they would have paid him a little more, he would have done a better job.
lots of money gets thrown around on foolish things
$32,900 - Republican
$132,250 - Democrat
$43,400- special interest
total: $208,550
It's good website, check it out.
There is a built-in incentive for CEOs to focus on the short-term, making the numbers for this quarter so he can get his bonus and options. If he has a few good years he makes money. If the company collapses, he is not required to give any money back.
Richard Fuld , 62 (bio)
Lehman Brothers - Chairman, CEO 1994-present
Election Picks: 37 wins, 27 losses
$32,900 Republican
$132,250 Democrat
$43,400 special interest
total: $208,550
Many people get paid big bucks to be good. Me? I’m good for nothing!
dang - seconds - (I spent time formatting for html).
Yes, yes...But does he lose every game, and burn down the stadium after robbing all the spectators?
Speaking for myself, I phone it in unless they pay me $72 M.

Since there was no government bailout, it didn’t hurt any one who wasn’t a shareholder. And if you were a shareholder, then it was your job to hold the CEO accountable, if you didn’t, then too bad you lost your money.
if they’d paid the guy less, would the outcome have improved?
