How much will he make this year?

Question/Comment: Last year Lehman Brothers' CEO Richard Fuld, Jr. made $71 million. Today his company collapsed. How much will he make this year?

Paul Solman: I don't know about this year. You've covered last. In 2006, according to Forbes.com, he was the 5th highest-paid CEO in America: "Total Compensation $122.67 mil; 5-Year Compensation Total $375.81 mil."

I believe that the CEOs need to be held accountable - no money left, then you have no money either - give it back! I’m tired of these greedy b$%^^(* getting their money while the underlings get screwed. CEOs at Enron went to jail and had to sell off their earnings (well, Ken Lay did before he dropped dead of a heart attack)... HOLD them accountable! NO compensation for FAILURE!

I’ll bet if they would have paid him a little more, he would have done a better job.

Why should he care? He's already got his money.

There is a built-in incentive for CEOs to focus on the short-term, making the numbers for this quarter so he can get his bonus and options. If he has a few good years he makes money. If the company collapses, he is not required to give any money back.

Yes, yes...But does he lose every game, and burn down the stadium after robbing all the spectators?

Last year Lehman Brothers' CEO made $71 million. Now his company has collapsed.

And not even playing in the NFL, NBA or MLB.

If he wasn't doing that work, it's a slam-dunk he needs to be
doing a perp-walk.
Along with plenty of his buddies and his punks.

(Realistically, I'm not a socialist. But this weeks events does
indicate a REAL commission/investigation must be done to stop
this Bravo Sierra from happening again.
Some of the ringleaders need to be at least publically shamed,
and sent to jail if they actually committed crimes.)

Since there was no government bailout, it didn’t hurt any one who wasn’t a shareholder. And if you were a shareholder, then it was your job to hold the CEO accountable, if you didn’t, then too bad you lost your money.
