I remember 1980, when the polls and the media all had us thinking there was a really close race going on between Carter and Reagan. I still remember John Chancellor’s shocked look on NBC when he opened the broadcast and broke the news that we were instead expecting (gulp) “a big victory for Ronald Reagan.”
