Democrats introduced a 290-page energy bill at 9:45 p.m. Monday night which passed 236-189 Tuesday evening -- just over 24 hours after the bill was filed. The bill reportedly did not go through any committees or subcommittees, and Democratic leaders are not allowing a single amendment to be offered.
If passed by both houses, the bill would keep 80 percent to 88 percent of known domestic reserves permanently off limits.

Less energy, more taxes, more regulations, more anti-energy lawsuits, ... and that's probably just the half of it.
I'll wager the other half is a bunch of unrelated pork, earmarks, payoffs, and special interest crap.
So does that make a half-wolf, half-pig hybrid animal a "sheep"? Well ... wolves eat sheep, don't they?
Of course, we'll never actually know what's in it, because they offered up several hundred pages of turgid prose with just a couple of hours to read it before voting.
A pox on all their houses!

Bush should sign an Executive Order allowing drilling in all coastal waters right up to the shoreline, then let the states work it out.
The Dems would have to over ride the thing. Good luck with that in this climate of high gasoline prices.
Obama could spew, but it would cost him.
The Republicans should remind folks with oil coastline, that all Alaskans get thousands of dollars each year because their state allows drilling. Let the state legislatures deny their constituents that type of money if they dare.

Well, as far as I can see, whatever the House and/or Senate pass, Bush will veto. End game. Then September 30th the moratorium against drilling offshore expires. Checkmate.

I hope you are right, but I suspect if the POTUS vetoes this bill, the RATs will put the offshore drilling prohibition in a CR and then dare the Republicans to vote against it and the POTUS to veto it. And of course, the RATs’ willing accomplices in the MSM will carry the RATs’ water in all of this. I can see the headlines now, “POTUS Vetoes CR...Women, Children, and Minorities Hit Hardest.”

Bush get that veto pen out. We know its got lots of ink waiting to be used.

And what would really be the consequences of Bush vetoing it and the MSM making him look bad? His poll numbers may fall? LOL! Like they wouldn't go after him anyway.
I say Bush should just ride out his term making life extremely miserable for the RATs. F'em.
