Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told the Dallas Morning News that the team dealt with Howard after the incident.

"That said, we will be going through some advanced communication-skill sessions together this training camp," Cuban said. "I have explained to him that cellphone cameras are not your friend and that what you think you said on camera is never what people will hear when it shows up on YouTube or TV."

The national anthem incident was just the latest episode for Howard, who in July also was arrested for speeding (94 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone), careless and reckless driving. He has a court date scheduled for September 23.

During last season's playoffs, Howard also admitted he is an occasional marijuana user.

How pathetic is Cuban’s response? In essence he’s saying...don’t get caught! It’s as if he did nothing wrong in his eyes. Amazing.

I wonder if he also explained to him that only a pathetic, thankless jackass would diss the very country that allowed him to gain his celebrity and riches in the first place.
