The Obama Campaign is in Disarray By Jonah Goldberg
After running a brilliant and historic primary battle to defeat Hillary Clinton, the Obama campaign is now in disarray. Why?
Perhaps it's because Barack Obama has never run a competitive race against a Republican. After all, Obama won his U.S. Senate seat in Illinois by running against Alan Keyes, a fire-and-brimstone, right-wing black carpetbagger from Maryland (or perhaps Mars) who had no real ties to Illinois.
Now, facing John McCain's blistering ads, Obama seems unable to fight fire with fire. The Democratic rank and file are furious (while simultaneously denouncing McCain's negativity).
Obama, they may be realizing, doesn't know how to close the deal.
Nonetheless, the Obama campaign has vowed, once again, to take the gloves off and go after McCain hard, linking him to President Bush and highlighting the fact that the Arizona senator is out of touch.

I think the only thing that the campaign did that was "brilliant" was to hide their candidate from scrutiny by employing the platitudes of "hope" and "change". By doing so, no one got to know him well enough to dislike him. This strategy no longer works in the general.
Democrat campaigns are touchy feely creepy crawly.
I think we must remember that Obama boasted about running his whopping huge, expensive and highly populated campaign as “executive experience” as compared to the Mayorship of “Wassilly”... So the brilliance of the ad mentioned in the article, reflects entirely upon him. What a genius! Three shots to the foot in a single ad! Poking fun at the elderly, missing that McCain was practically a pioneer in Internet campaigning (as attested by Forbes)and underscoring his heroism in a very poignant way that untold millions can appreciate... discomfort at a keyboard a result of torture.
Barack scores minus three on the Niccolò Macchiavelli Meter.
Heh heh.
Team obama is like the football team that goes undefeated in the preseason and then falls flat when the season starts. I can’t wait until the debates and I only wish there were more AND in the form of the town hall meeting.
to echo your thought, didn’t that win come against the same Hillary Clinton who had the highest negatives in the known universe?
C’mon folks, the fat lady hasn’t even begun warming up yet, much less started singing. McCain is up by 1 in the latest Ras poll. I’m seeing too much overconfidence here, too much looking past the election to the post-election postmortems on Obama’s campaign. Let’s save the gloating for after the election. Obama will get his act together and the MSM will pull out all the stops (you ain’t seen nothing yet). It will be a tough two months, don’t you doubt it. The more we crow now the harder it will be to recover when Obama takes a lead in the polls which he will do from time to time.
Iraq is what drove BO’s march to the nomination over Hillary.
Now that Iraq has stabilized, the underlying rationale for BO’s campaign has evaporated. He really has nothing to say.
Since Hillary and Obama agreed on most of the issues, there was never any discussion of the issues. She was left to fight the battle on the experience and other personal qualifications. The media helped deflect most of these type of attacks (using the race card)until it was too late. By the time the public got to know Obama, the race was already in the bag.
If Hillary would have taken a que from her husband and ran as a centrist from the beginning, she would have won the nomination.
Maybe the Obama campaign can make fun of McCain’s inability to raise his arms above his head or mock Sarah Palin’s children.
Oh, wait...
About the only thing brilliant about it was to go all out in the caucus states while Hillary was working on a speech for her 1/20/2009 inauguration. By the time Hillary realized that there was a real fight, most of the remaining states had proportional delegate distribution so it was nearly impossible to catch up.
don’t worry. he will cheat if all else fails. i fully expect major hijinks at election time with the usual voter intimidation protests if they get caught.
Don’t get cocky. It isn’t over until the electoral votes are certified in December!!!
We should be satisfied with nothing short of a blowout. Anything less puts it far too much risk at being stolen.
Even with the help, the pure propaganda, from the entire lamestream media Obama can’t pull it off.
He is all words, written by someone else, and is incapable of acting on his own. A total empty suit who has done nothing but plagiarize the work of others as his own. Remember, he sponsored 500+ bills! LOL! (”pssst, put my name on that one, too, so when I run for President I can take credit!”)
Now for an advance photo of Snobami in January 2009:
That’s an excellent point that Jonah makes... this is the first time Obama has ever run into any real Republican opposition in one of his races.
I thought BO ran against Ryan, who was 'taken out' when his divorce proceeding information was forced into public through judges' orders. Ryan had a tv star wife and news of domestic violence came to light.
He couldn't close the deal on Hillary! He ran out the clock on her (barely). But that is not the same thing. Even up to the convention there ware murmurs about "cankles" coming back from the dead. If you can't convince your own party, how can you convince the country?
Is this KC suburb in Kansas or MO?
Because if its Kansas, its a safe GOP state, why would a Pubbie need to get out yard signs?
Ryan dropped out before the General because old sealed Divorce records with his actress ex wife , Jeri, were leaked to ABC news.
She accused him of wanted to be a Swinger, so Jack dropped out and then Keyes came along.
