Given its solid economy and huge energy reserves, I’m pretty sure Brazil could save the rainforest on its own...but why bother when European fools are willing to pay your bills for you? ;)

That is a lotta money, why not just buy the rainforest and put a big wall around it?

Norway has some huge reserves of its own. If they want to spend some oil money on trees in Brazil I say fine-- no skin off my nose.

They should have listened to “Getting Gay With Kids”:
Doo-doo-doo, da-da-do-do-wow!
There’s a place called the rainforest that truly sucks ass
Let’s knock it all down and get rid of it fast
You say ‘save the rainforest’, but what do you know?
You’ve never been to the rainforest before!
Getting Gay with Kids is here
To tell you things you might not like to hear
You only fight these causes ‘cos caring sells
All you activists can go f-— yourselves.
Someday if we work hard boys and girls..
There’ll be no more rainforests left in the entire world..
Getting Gay with Kids is here
To spread the word, and bring you cheer
Getting Gay with Kids is here
Lets knock down the rainforest, whaddaya say?
It’s totally gay, It’s totally gay!

If Norway wants to plant more trees, I could plant a few thousand seedlings for them.

this will be the biggest waste of money in Norwegian history... Maybe. This could be a calculated move to deflect criticism for being an oil exporter. If the billion is a one-time donation then that could be a cheap means of gaining Norway its good world citizen gold star.

Young trees consume CO2, older trees emit more CO2 than they consume. Ergo, cut the damn rain forest down.

this will be the biggest waste of money in Norwegian history...Spending billions on deep sub-sea road tunnels to tiny islands with populations in the hundreds must run it close. But hey, Norway has billions to burn so let them burn away...

Wouldn’t it be easier to sell some lumber and bananas and raise $10 billion?

Nope, that doesn't work either
