A former Naval Academy midshipman who was imprisoned alongside John McCain is the narrator of a new television ad that bashes the Republican candidate by saying being a prisoner of war is not a good prerequisite for being president
The ad, produced by Brave New PAC, a liberal political action committee affiliated with Brave New Films, shows Phillip Butler saying McCain was known as a very volatile guy and someone Butler would not like to see with his finger near the red button.
Leighton Woodhouse, communications director for both Brave New Films and the PAC, said two days of national air time has been purchased on cable news channels CNN and MSNBC. He called it a moderate buy to get the message out.

I hope this goes national....It’ll back fire BIG time.
Being a POW doesn’t qualify him but I appreciate that sacrifice more than “Community Organizer”
If it’s “swift boat style” then I expect it to be completely truthful.
“...bashes the Republican candidate by saying being a prisoner of war is not a good prerequisite for being president...”
But being a community shakedown artist and Black Nationalist is....
Nice try.
Call Col. Bud Day. Fort Walton Beach. Has fought for Vietnam Vets than anyone.
Saw this and it is totally lame.
I guess not being “cool” when you are TORTURED is definitely a NO-NO!......what an idiot.
First of all, how does he know what color the button is? Second of all, where did the libs get this idea that the president can just reach out and touch a button whenever he feels like it and we’d all be dead? I think McCain’d consult with someone before letting the nukes fly.
Secondly, of course simply being a POW doesn’t qualify you to be president. Neither does serving in the military. Neither does serving in the Senate. Neither does being a national figure for at least eight years. But put them all together and you have something.
These scumbags have no shame. This will do nothing but enrage Vietnam vets and backfire BIG TIME.
Yeah, the guy says McCain has an temper.
Having a big liberal DemocRAT come out and say that Senator McCain has a bad temper is pretty dumb. The Swifties exposed Kerry as a liar. I don’t think this is a the same thing. As for McCain’s “hot temper,” I think anyone who spent five and a half years in the Hanoi Hilton without receiving any medical attention for his injuries has a right to be pissed off. Of course, that’s just my opinion.
“Secondly, of course”
Of course, I meant “Thirdly, of course”
There was bound to be one guy in the military at the time who does not like McCain. So what?
If this is someone who actually knew McCain and is giving his personal opinion that he doesn’t think McCain should be president, then fine. It is correctly called a “Swift Boat ad.” Now, one guy giving his opinion isn’t going to be too effective, but let him run it and see if anyone cares.
