Carlos Zambrano just no-hit the Houston Astros in Milwaukee, where they were playing due to the Hurricane Ike rain-out in Houston. Zambrano gave up only one walk, got a hit and scored a run in the 5-0 Chicago Cubs victory.

It has a lot to do with the city of Chicago itself. I bet you're really going to be hating life when it's a White Sox-Cubs World Series.

I think Sweet Lou could run for Mayor of the Midwest and he'd win! And Lou has a lot to do with the Rays being in the position they are today.

73. He had 20 homers 77 ribbies and the cubs ship him to the Sox for the 74 season.

That’s my dream as a fan of both clubs.
I don’t see the need for the intercity rivalry. I’d rather have 2 bites of the apple as a fan.

Braves baby! I do wish we could get rid of Booby Cox and get a real manager like Lou, though.

I was wondering what Brave’s fans think of Cox.
I thought you were gonna contend this year...
I’m still surprised you only won 1 World Series with Maddux(your welcome)/Smoltz and Glavine.
At least your GM made smart move by not giving up a fortune to keep Andruw Jones...what the heck happened to him.

Bobby Cox has very well managed past his prime. He's is very appreciated for building the Braves into a competing team but he has made many bone-headed managerial decisions in the post season. This is a quote I took from a poster from the Braves message board that sums it up:
"Smoltz, Glavine and Maddux sure did make Cox look good until the postseason (except 1995). Winning in the regular season was generally a no pressure situation but when it came to crunch time (postseason) Cox failed to prepare the team and make the right in game decisions. The postseason is when a manager actually has to MANAGE in a sudden death situation. Winning only 1 WS in 14 attempts is...IMO...a very poor record...

I agree, 1 for 14 is lousy.
If it were football he’d have fired for repeatedly failing in the post-season.

Oh yeah, I not a big fan of the Cubs but I'm not a big hater like I am making myself out to be. I saw this thread and just had to get you guys in a tizzy.
I live 15 minutes from downtown St. Louis (live on the Illinois side). So in 04 when the Cards played the Red Sox in the WS I bought a Boston hat and wore it proudly even though I'm not a Boston fan.

I get the feeling the country was rooting for Boston.
I didn’t get the sense they cared about the also “cursed” White Sox in ‘05.
