Ive been in Alaska only a week, but Im already feeling ever so much smarter about Russia.
I cant quite see it from my hotel window, but, hey, I know its out there somewhere, beyond all the stuffed bears and cruise ships and glaciers and oil derricks.
The proximity of the country from which William Seward bartered to buy Alaska for $7 million Sewards icebox is so illuminating that I suddenly realize that we would commit a grave error by overestimating Russias economic strength. After all, it represents only 2.8 percent of the worlds G.D.P., even though its gross domestic product has ballooned from $200 billion in 1999 to $1.7 trillion this year.
But I overanalyze.

Sarah has single-handedly ushered out the "Sex and the City" era, and made the sexy new model for America a retro one - the glamorous Pioneer Woman, packing a gun, a baby and a Bible. Why so bitter, Mo?!

Sarah has single-handedly ushered out the Sex and the City era, and made the sexy new model for America a retro one the glamorous Pioneer Woman, packing a gun, a baby and a Bible. Since when -- and to whom -- is the "Sex & The City" image of womanhood superior to that of the Pioneer Woman?
Why would any woman prefer select the former as a heroine?

Nice! I hadn’t noticed, that the super-hot Catherine Zeta-Jones kind of looks like Palin. Hmmm; maybe part of MoDo’s hostility toward Palin is subconscious, due to her longstanding agony over losing the man of her dreams to a sexy, smart, successful brunette.
Also note that the op-ed she writes was likely written before she got off the plane. I don’t see anything there that would have required that she actually be in Alaska to learn.
Talking points, re-hashed. And old old grudges again gripped tightly.

That must be an old picture of Zeta Jones. She can’t play the young Sarah anymore. They’ll have to find a svelte actress to play her high school, college and early years. LOL

"...Sarah has single-handedly ushered out the Sex and the City era...".
It seems that most liberal pundits define their life/world views by the norms of some stupid movie or TV show. They constantly reference entertainment as if it's reality.
I suppose when you live in a fantasy world, complete with make-believe jobs, it all begins to seem real after a while.
None of them actually have to live the kinds of everyday lives that the rest of us do (even including those of their fellow party members who just happen to be regular, if misguided, folks).
Besides, while I can't confess to ever actually watching it, I thought the whole point of "Sex in the City" was how shallow and pointless the uber-feminist, narcissistic lives of the characters actually were until they rediscovered the greatness of the ordinary things in life.

I think that imagining oneself to be very intelligent qualifies for eggheadery. Few are anywhere near as smart as they think they are. l When will the iberal media stop treating left-wing ideology as a proxy for intelligence?
Story goes that during the 1956 campaign, Adlai Stevenson's Harvard transcript was locked in a file cabinet in the college dean's office. BTW, accoring to Murray and Herr, the average SAT score for Harvard freshmen in 1950 was a mediocre 550. It's only in the last few decades that Harvard has become as focused on high test scores, rather than proper breeding.

Maybe they could also do a biopic on Maureen. A mediocre female journalist gets a job with the New York Times via affirmative action. She proceeds to write a lot of snotty schoolgirlish columns attacking everyone that it’s politically safe to attack. Realizing that she’s aging and unmarried, she throws herself sexually at an overrated film actor, who uses her for a while and then dumps her for a better looking chick.
Doesn’t sound like much of a box office hit, but maybe it could be a telefilm on Lifetime.

Maureen Dowd never seems to like anything or anybody...I would ask her what she does like, but, I am afraid that I would then have to clean out my ears with an icepick.
