With just 15 minutes to go before Sarah Palin's event was to start Saturday, the Pony Express Pavilion was only about a quarter full.

The hold-up: The Secret Service had just one metal detector to run a line of some 3,500 people through.

At 4:45 p.m., they gave up. They moved the metal detector out of the way and the crowd flooded into the pavilion. As one McCain backer said, the Alaskan Governor isn't in serious danger in Carson City.

Well, now that the bad guys know they'll be let in without so much as a bat of an FBI eye...

My guess is that detectors aren't needed at all for Mrs. Palin’s events.

She is be bathed in constant prayer.

It would have been a better article if they had found some space to report what Palin said in her remarks. Sooner, rather than later, she has to take the media on and defend herself against the smears ans attacks.

trying to defend themselves against the Republicans is what has gotten Obama and his bunch off target.

I know that negative ads are usually effective, but this time, I really think that issue's with a little jab thrown in, will work much better.

Constant prayer and carelessness should not be on the same agenda.

Note to GOP: Get your own metal detectors; carry them around with McCain/Palin. Put out an ad requesting we pay for them.

the Secret Service had better get with the program. One detector. What are they thinking. John McCaine had better unload some of his anger on the rank and file SS, and then go up the food change. They should not just give up. What are they trying to do, get someone killed?????

Republicans say they back Palin 100 percent

Now, if we can get the McCain/Palin Democrats onboard, this thing will be quickly over...

I attended the rally and a large crowd was locked out due to security and time issue . the crowd was estimated at 8 - 10,000 .this reporter is a bold faced liar. they had a huge screen outside to watch the event.

Yes there were some freaks and they temporarily cut the video ( not sound) power to the outside TV. You are right they had some one on the inside . I told the authorities who was doing it on the inside and outside . I had warned them earlier and they ignored it.

We had 12 to 15 metal detectors here @ the Colorado Springs rally, for approximately 13,000 people. It took all of 5-7 minutes to get through the line. Many were turned away, due to limited parking. If we had used a bigger facility. We could have easily filled it with more than 30,000 people. NOBAMA 08
