Wallace just promoed the next segmant: Sarah Palin just had her first ... interview and lived to tell the tale.

Am I being too sensitive, or were those words unnecessary and rude?

No you are not. They just cannot find their footing with the Palin phenomenon. So they keep blowing it. I think they would do well to get off this "I'll treat her just as badly as any Republican guy" and...on second thought, I don't want to tell them how they should handle this situation. Let them figure it out.

Yes, panel is talking about the interview now.

Hume: She did fine; Charlie looked unflattering and blames Charlie’s research team for the bad questions. Hume says “In what respect” was a fair retort from Palin given the “Bush Doctrine” does indeed have several aspects. Brit says Palin really has changed the race and there is a backfire on the media for the Palin attacks.

Wallace: Brings up SNL skit and Tina Fey did a good job in representing her (looks anyway).

Liasson: Palin is having an incredible factor on the race. She has awakened the sleeping giant of moms — all moms, hockey moms, stay-at-home moms, etc. Liasson says that the women she has talked to are really excited about Palin.

Kristol: Obama/Biden want to get back to the issues now and realize they made a mistake with Obama engaging Palin. The media is really going after Palin and its backfiring. He laughs at the media reporting on Palin.

Williams: The media is doing a good job and puncturing the image of Palin that the McCain camp has put forth. He talks about the Gibson question about her experience and says she is humble enough. He thinks its beyond credulity that Palin is ready to be VP.

Hume: Argues with Williams about what she said about Isreal.

Kristol tells Williams to go jump in a lake (my words not his).

Williams says he is not here to condemn Palin, but lets be realistic and Palin is not ready to be VP or Pres.

Hume: But what about Obama, he has no experience and no achievement to Williams — Juan says its like a chess game and it was a mistake for Obama to engage Palin, but Obama has run an extraodinary campaign. Brit says thats true.

They are condescending and arrogant. Try substituting an African-American for Palin in that context and it makes you think you are back in the dark days of segregation when the shtick was that Blacks are too stupid to be taken seriously. Did he have a smirk on his face when he said that?
