What we need is a $30 million ad campaign INSIDE Michigan. I was thinking... Jeremiah Wright and Kwame Kilpatrick.

If they would spend that $30 Mil promoting DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW, BUILD REFINERIES, people might actually be able to AFFORD vacations in Michigan...
I’ve always loved Flint in the springtime.
“Did you ever want to visit a war zone? Ever want to see how people live in the Third World but you don’t want to go half way around the world to do it? Well, have we got a tour package for you . . . . .”
All that for me to go dip my toes in Lake Erie...
What would help is putting a crater where Detroit is.
Been considering a tour --was going to take my wife on one this year (she's never seen MI's beauty) but put it off-- maybe I'll wait until MI votes in responsible leadership. The actuarial tables say I can put off a return visit for a few decades yet... maybe it'll be be a little more like "home" then, at least maybe a bit less decrepit than what it must be like today.
With the crusty dead-soul democrat governor and democrat decades of democrat party societal engineering to the economy, this really is like trying to put an evening gown and lipstick on a sow! She may go to the dance, but she’s still going to be nothing but a noteworthy pig.
Wow, at last, my dream vacation in downtown Detroit. How did I get so lucky?
I love the radio commercials. Tim Allen narrates them and they always bring a tear to my eye.
That reminds me of a tourism slogan I read once about the Island of Nantucket.
Come to Nantucket, we used to kill whales.
I love vacationing in Michigan. North Michigan is a crown jewel I will put up against just about any place in the country. I would be able to be up there more often if I have more MONEY in my pocket. Spending 30 million on this is a waste. Why not use that to fix roads, invest in refineries, and have more jobs here so we can tour Michigan more often in the future.
“Twenty-five thousand mornings, give or take, is all we humans get.” ...unless you visit Detroit!
Is this a sequel to “RobcCop”? I thought that was the original Detroit tourist commercial.
Michigan is really a beautiful state. I drive through there from my Canadian road trips and going through Port Huron and taking 75 North to the UP is pure tranquility.
I love how so many people think Detroit IS Michigan. NOT. We spent the last week of August near Grayling. Spent most of my time sitting by the Manistee River watching the water roll by. We made a side trip up to Mackinac Island. The weather was gorgeous. Don’t miss a trip to our beautiful state because you think it’s all like Detroit.
Michigan. Land of 10,000 taxes.
Idiots. Pay the McCain campaign a third of that to have Sarah Palin drop by twice a month for a couple of years. They’ll get all the traffic they can deal with!
At least they know enough now not to waste their money trying to attract BUSINESSES to Michigan! Thanks Union bosses!
I am from Michigan, as far away as I can get! NM is still too close. That is why I am going to move back to NW AZ when I retire.
“The $17.5-million campaign - all heart and naked emotion - is designed to appeal to our secret longing for simplicity, thus drawing big bucks and new tourists. Starting next month, the state will spend an additional $30 million in the tourism campaign.”
Yep, she’s right. I am BLOWN away!
