Most geniuses have various ‘issues’.

What's that got to do with John Lennon? He's a genius? He's a musician who couldn't even read music. LOL. Neither can Paul McCartney for that matter.

You don’t have to be able to read music to be a musical genius. You can learn to read music in about an hour.

Not reading music and having no formal training makes him all the more a genius.

I have to respectfully disagree with you. Although I strongly disagree with the late Mr. Lennon’s political views, many of his songs (particularly, in my opinion, 1963-1966)were absolutely brilliant.
