Lennon's amazing tape of lust for mum
Sun UK ^ | 9-12-08 | Rothstein

JOHN LENNON fantasised about having sex with his mother Julia, according to a leaked audio diary which it is claimed he recorded a year before his death.

His widow YOKO ONO and BEATLES bandmate PAUL McCARTNEY are furious about forthcoming book John Lennon: The Life by Philip Norman, which makes the lurid accusation.

However on the tape - which you can listen to by clicking here- a voice alleged to be John’s can be heard noting: “I was just remembering the time I had my hand on my mother’s t*t in 1 Blomfield Road.

“It was when I was about 14.

“I took a day off school, I was always doing that and hanging out in her house.

“We were lying on the bed and I was thinking ‘I wonder if I should do anything else?’”

The audio – recorded on September 5 1979 – continues: “It was a strange moment, because I actually had the hots for some rather lower class female who lived on the other side of the road.

Mum ... Julia Lennon

“I always think that I should have done it. Presuming she would have allowed it.”

You’re not inured to shock. It’s just that you have a better understanding of human nature than many people, the wisdom to know that not everything is always “black and white,” and the compassion and common decency to accept as much.

I’m not saying that Lennon’s fantasizing about his mother (if true)is a positive, but teens DO get confused thoughts. I applaud your ability to see that humans ARE human.

pardon me but I just posted the thread

I knew Lennon had series mother issues but not his bad allegedly..which is off the reservation

not sure what God or Sunday morning has to do with it.

if ya’ll don’t want to know about Lennon’s weirdness then go to another thread or ping JR.

If any of you have animosity towards me over other issues then it’s the usual FR practice to take them up on the thread where those issues are pertinent, where I will be happy to fight with you

I don’t know....no telling.

I liked Beatles music but aside from Harrison, I did not like the subsequent stuff som much.

It’s weird as a 50 year old to look back at folks who you thought were fairly innocuous that were 15-20 years older and had huge entertainment personalities and then find out later how screwed up they are/were.

I guess informed Dems must have felt that way as they watched JFK unravel with time.

I never really admired Lennon...he was too angry/shrill and that Ono stuff was too weird. But I did enjoy the music though the Stones carried better.

Both Dylan and Garcia do Baby Blue justice.

I think the same thing too. Whenever I hear that song I immediately turn the station or channel.

I'm sure Mr. Silverback will agree with me that we have no animosity towards you at all.

- open SARC
As for stuart, you have to excuse him. Apparently he has no control over his own behavior since he is, by his own statements, incapable of self determination. It must make for very convenient excuses.
- close SARC

As a young, empty headed, idealist teenager I admired Lennon's views. Then I learned about reality... The problem with stuart is that many of us let him get to us.

you sound about like me.....I was second grade when Hold Your hand came out and grew up with the Beatles metamorphosis from my 2nd grade till 8th

it was something to see..

I look back now though and stuff like Pink Floyd, Dylan, Zepplin and whatnot holds up better for me.

The Beatles got sorta cliched but some of their songs were so crafter.

Thank You Sir George Martin

Most of Zeppelin’s stuff does not hold up. Alot of it is plodding and sloppy (particularly Page’s guitar playing and Bonzo’s drumming on any song over 3 minutes). John Paul Jones was the glue that held the band together, and the albums where he had the most influence (Led Zep II, Zoso, and In Through the Out Door) were their best.

It holds up for me....but if you think it’s plodding on vinyl it’s good if you missed the live shows.

they did not duplicate their sound well

My uncle saw them at the Garden in '77 on their last American tour. He said Plant could barely hit the high notes and that Page had trouble hitting the chords correctly.

They are one of many groups that sounded better before digital remastering. Deep Purple and P-Funk were other groups that should only be appreciated on vinyl.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. I believe that both "The White Album" and "Physical Graffiti" should only have been limited to one disc. There is so much pretentious filler on both (Boogie with Stu and Black Country Woman on Graffiti are two that immediately come to mind).

to confess....my Zep years were mostly pre-Graffiti

II, IV and HOH were my favorites

though III is unique and grew on me...

long before the silly kitties usurped it

(donning shark suit)

I saw them at the Cotton Bowl....loud and hard to gather...1975...Floyd played stadiums pretty good as did Skynyrd.

Stones not too bad...depending on the quality of the H that night

I’m in my mid 50s and the first record I ever bought was ‘Day Tripper’ on my 12th birthday. I’ve been a huge Beatles fan ever since. You are right that it has always been weird, and often disappointing, to learn about the backgrounds of childhood heroes way after the fact.

The Beatles were originally a gang of thugs, and had no reservations about mixing it up with their fists. Their original bass player, Stu Sutcliffe, died as the result of getting kicked in the head during a Beatles brawl with a German gang. One time Lennon took to the stage for a gig with a toilet seat around his neck. The Beatles were nuts. I also think they were doing pills (speed). Brian Epstein, who recognized their genius and talent, cleaned them up and dressed them up, and the rest is history.

During an early interview, Mick Jagger said that one time he and the Stones were hanging out in a Liverpool bar where the Beatles were also drinking. He said the Beatles had a reputation for being rough and boisterous and at one point he actually got a little scared for his physical well-being. (I don’t remember for sure, but this may have been the same meeting where John and Paul went to a corner table, wrote ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’ in about an hour, and gave the song to Jagger. It turned out to be one of the Stones’ first hit singles.)

I knew long ago that Lennon had some anger issues. I believe he admitted to getting rough with his women, and he certainly left that impression in his music:

“I used to be cruel to my woman,
I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved,
Man, I was mean, but I’m changing my scene,
And I’m doing the best that I can.”

Anyway, I simply have a problem whenever stories like this one surface about people who are dead and (obviously) cannot explain or defend themselves. It really bothers me for some reason.

FRegards,
LH
