Obama camp suggests lies over Palin visit to Iraq
By GLEN JOHNSON 4 minutes ago
WASHINGTON (AP) The question of whether Sarah Palin has ever been to Iraq pushed Obama aides Saturday to accuse the McCain campaign of outright lies, distortions and distractions to the American people.
Since Republican presidential nominee John McCain tapped the Alaska governor to be his running mate on Aug. 29, questions about her experience have been fueled by her relatively brief tenure in office, as well as a dearth of foreign travel.
Palin made a well-documented trip to Kuwait and Germany last year to visit U.S. troops, and over time, the governor and her staff have revealed she also visited Canada and Mexico. Meanwhile, her aides clarified that a purported visit to Ireland was little more than a refueling stop during her trip to the Middle East.

1. It’s nice to seen they have totally ignored every sensible Democrat’s advice to STHU about her.
2. This is rich coming from someone who acted so high and mighty last week with his talk of “swift-boat” politics, did he not declare ENOUGH!!
3. The women’s son just left for Iraq, this ain’t gonna play well with people.
Geesh, with 30 lawyers up in Alaska for almost a week now. this phoney lie is all they can use to attack Sarah ?
what does that tell you ?
This Sexist Pig Obama would rather take on Sarah Palin, than actually take on John McCain, because Obama is such a sexist pig, he actually thinks he can get to Sarah Palin, and he knows he ain't up to taking down McCain. Obama you sexist pig, you have underestimated Sarah, but then as a sexist pig , you don't know any better.
She is really in obozo's head!
Bingo!
Barry wants to argue about whether the opponents VP has ever been to Iraq. Could he be any further off message? (Maybe that was Bill Clinton’s advice: Nail Palin for a phony trip to Iraq. It’ll fix everything, I swear.)
While there he tried it out himself ~ on a captive Kurd.
I would respond to this by asking, Obama said he was thinking about serving. Yet he never did, nor did he pay any attention to the actual troops while visiting under duress. Who in the Obama family has served in the last 20 years?
oops, no one?
Obama has run out of reasons why he should even be considered as POTUS. Truth is, he is a big phoney.
Kinda like his votes as state senator.

“This will come back to bite them thouhg like every other worthless attack has.”
That’s unlikely. In the long run, people will stop feeling sorry for Palin, and start treating her like any politician. “If she wants to stand in the spotlight, this is how it’s gonna be.”
Consciously or not, the media has a “throw everything against the wall and see what sticks” strategy. They’ll print all the suspicion and innuendo they can get their hands on, and eventually the public will assume that where there’s smoke, there’s fire.
Take Bush. In the beginning, people knew he was no genius, but they liked him. In the end, people don’t necessarily hate him, but they think he’s at worst corrupt and at best completely incompetent. Why? The media won through attrition. Negative story after negative story sunk Bush.
No one seemed to care about the eleventh-hour cocaine story. The national guard hub-bub barely made a dent. I remember back in 2001 when stories criticizing Bush for reading children’s stories while the towers burned or Cheney’s shadow government made me laugh.
Then there was Iraq, and unlike the rest of what I’ve recapped, that was a real story. After the fall of Saddam and prior to the Surge, the media had a free-for-all. Troubles in Iraq lent credence to each and every criticism of Bush. Under the weight of yellow-cake, Scooter Libby (perhaps the thinnest presidential scandal in history, in my opinion), Harriet Meyers, Dubai, Katrina, Alberto Gonzales, et al., who could help but believe that Bush was a disaster.
History, I think, will confirm that Bush was no genius, but a good guy. Even if Iraq ends disastrously, it won’t be near as bad as Vietnam. Even if the media holds onto Scooter Libby and the rest of the “scandals” as firmly as it does Watergate, it won’t be near as bad as Nixon.
In the meantime, the name Bush will be tarnished with far too many people. Palin won’t be under nearly as much scrutiny if McCain wins. But given the ferocity of the attacks thus far, her image will suffer in the long run.
Meanwhile the idiotic B Hussein puts out an ad that criticizes McCain for using computers, when a simple 5-second google search would reveal that he can’t type due to war injuries.
What a jacka$$, him and the army of advisers he rode in on.
I disagree. The left has been so over the top in its attack on Palin, that even liberal activists have taken note of it. And the perception is actually reality, the left is out to get her. Everyone knows it, so the left has no credibility with the masses anymore. They’re desire to destroy her has destroyed themselves. The main street media is dead as a viable entity. Thank you John McCain for picking Palin, and speeding up it’s demise.
>> Collusion between Obama’s campaign and the media, that’s what’s going on here. Stunning.
... and wrong on so many levels.
I hope and pray that their game is up THIS election cycle.
When is Obama man enough to run against McCain?
Give it time, that’s all I’m saying. Do you remember how everyone laughed down the cocaine story when it came out mere moments before the election?
The MSM is a dead man walking, in my opinion. For it to be put to rest for good, something has to replace it. I know, I know, cable and the internet are rising. But too many old people still read newspapers and watch network television. The time is not yet completely ripe. Wait till I’m 40, then we shall rule.
Palin: It’s true I did go to Iraq. My only mistake, I should’ve called a press conference!!!
You make a great point but 52 days is a lot shorter time frame than 8 years.
I guess that’s why we are seeing 5 different hit pieces per day about Palin and only 1 hit piece per day about Bush.
