Obama camp suggests lies over Palin visit to Iraq
By GLEN JOHNSON 4 minutes ago
WASHINGTON (AP) The question of whether Sarah Palin has ever been to Iraq pushed Obama aides Saturday to accuse the McCain campaign of outright lies, distortions and distractions to the American people.
Since Republican presidential nominee John McCain tapped the Alaska governor to be his running mate on Aug. 29, questions about her experience have been fueled by her relatively brief tenure in office, as well as a dearth of foreign travel.
Palin made a well-documented trip to Kuwait and Germany last year to visit U.S. troops, and over time, the governor and her staff have revealed she also visited Canada and Mexico. Meanwhile, her aides clarified that a purported visit to Ireland was little more than a refueling stop during her trip to the Middle East.

Was she ducking gun-fire ... oh wait that was... oh what’s her name...umm ... Hillary something or other!
Glen Johnson cannot be trusted. He is the author of the “Hillary looks regal” butt kissing piece and is the same guy who jumped Mitt Romney during the middle of Mitt’s press conference.

The McCain campaign has been distracted... The McCain campaign? Man oh man what are they smoking over at the AP. I think they may be projecting a little!
I’m confused. I don’t recall any claims by either Palin or Mccain that she was ever in Iraq. I heard she was in Kuwait, and there are pictures of her visiting wounded troops so I’m sure that’s correct.
What is going on here?
Lib's are so hateful. Obama wanted to stay on the issues. is this the major issue of the campaign?
Empty suit!
In seriousness, the Democrats' heads are so full of "nuance" that they don't even know the difference between what the word lie actually means.
The Boston Globe reported Saturday that Palin visited the Iraqi side of a border crossing but never journeyed past the checkpoint. Her feet were standing on Iraqi soil. Therefore she visited Iraq. Mainly, she was visiting wounded troops recovering in Kuwait.
She’s already said she hasn’t traveled much, so what is the “big” deal here? That she hasn’t stepped foot in Iraq? OMG!! How could she possibly be qualified for VP then?? Stoopid!!
He’s going barking mad!
Their internal poll numbers must be tanking so fast. If this is their talking point of the day.
He is.
NPR had a segment this week where they interviewed a pig farmer that was was on the air, live, as he tried to put lipstick on a pig.
That was a very interesting issue. I learned a lot about it.
I think we're getting a taste of what lies in store for us over the next couple of weeks. What's essentially happened is they've made up a headline ("Palin was never in Iraq") which implies that McCain/Palin claimed she had been (not true). Now the other media outlets are free to pick up on the phony headline and get Obama's take on it in order to write a new deceptive headline ("Obama camp suggests lies over Palin visit to Iraq.") The magnitude of their collusion is stunning. Even when you know it's been going on for years -- to be confronted with it so blatently is off putting.
The questions have been fueled by Obama campaign supporters disguised as journalists.
That's where the fuel has come from.
“Pretty slick.”
Yup, and as most people don’t pay much attention initially, don’t retain that it was unnamed sources, or anonymous sources, they will only pick up on the scandal.
Real slick.
Good point. This will come back to bite them thouhg like every other worthless attack has.
Collusion between Obama's campaign and the media, that's what's going on here. Stunning.
Hillary the Hun!
