Pelosi 'fundamentally wrong' on Catholic teaching

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has agreed to meet with San Francisco's archbishop to clarify remarks she made during an interview with Tom Brokaw.

In a recent interview on Meet the Press, Representative Pelosi (D-California) told Brokaw that the issue of when life begins remains controversial within the Catholic Church. Her comments angered many Catholic leaders who are now questioning whether Pelosi should be able to continue receiving communion.

Steve Dillard is a member of the Catholics for McCain steering committee. Pelosi, he says, is "fundamentally wrong."

"There is no controversy [about abortion] within the [Catholic] Church. The church's teaching is crystal clear -- it has always been crystal clear, it has never deviated," says Dillard. "What she is trying to do is to go back into a time where you're dealing [with the question] about when does ensoulment occur.

"That issue has nothing to do with the church's stand that life always begins at conception, and that life is to be protected from the moment of conception -- and that abortion is never listed [as an option]."

According to Dillard, the Catholic Church does not allow for any dissent from this teaching. "If you dissent from the church's teaching on abortion, you are basically breaking your communion with the church; you are not fully in communion with the church," he explains. "And if you directly participate in the procurement of an abortion, you are basically automatically ex-communicated."

Dillard says Pelosi is engaging in scandal by perpetuating falsehoods about church teachings, and he contends that she needs to be further rebuked.

But she won't be denied communion or even chastized by the Church.

It remains to be seen if your first prediction will be proven true but your second is wrong.

Well there you have it.
Since the Democrats are 100% behind the federal funding of abortions, I'd say that is: 'directly participating in the procurement of an abortion'.

Even if a voter supports abortion by voting for an abortion supporting candidate (mostly dimocrats) then he/she is also excommunicated.

Then I daresay many millions of Roman Catholics are excommunicated (and don't know it) in the USA, as it is the majority Roman Catholic areas (California, Florida, and the North East) that persistently and consistently re-elect very liberal pro-abortion Democrats, election after election.
