I even wonder if she would wear a gown for that event? I think she will wear something very conservative and professional looking yet feminine. Will be very interesting to see her choice. Whatever she wears she will be comfortable and will look GORGEOUS.

The updo looks a bit impromptu - like youre having a bad hair day and all you can figure out to do is put it all up in a pony tail. Just my opinion. Well, I heard one woman call into a local conservative talk show -- she said, "Now my husband wants me to wear my hair up and wear my reading glasses all the time!"

I HATE the short-haired, no style, no makeup, pant-suited look. Agreed. I choose not to participate. Never had a pants suit, never will have one (they don't do anything for me anyway).

For people who are young (as under 40) her updo would be seen as fresh and cool, but it’s EXACTLY how I wore my hair to my senior prom in 1970 so you can figure out how old I am. So to me it just looks dated and recycled. It’s similar to how people who came of age around 1980 would view her if she had a Dorothy Hamill hairstyle.
People view things from the prism of their own experience.

Some people copy fashions. Sarah Palin sets them.

Personally, I think she would look smashing in a shorter, layered hairstyle. i disagree... it's too much like everyone else's... that's how i feel whenever i give in to a shorter stylish haircut... personally, i like longer... (not too long)...

I might be younger, but I recognize when a classic is a classic. That updo is a classic - and it dates farther back than 1970. Audrey Hepburn wore it much earlier than that. I did mine like that only far more curled for a gala cocktail party in May and got more compliments because it looked classy.
You're right about one thing-people do view from the prism of their own experience. I've always thought the "Dorothy Hamil" was incredibly boring and said, "I'm incredibly inflexible". That might be a reflection of the people I've known who've worn it.
