Panic sets in for Obama, Democrats

Barack Obama knows it. The election he had in the bag is slipping away.

The selection of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate has so thrown him off stride, as it has most other Democrats, that all the momentum he had has vanished. He’s getting panicky advice from everywhere. He intends to launch more and sharper attacks, abandoning any pretense of a new and different, more civil campaign.

Democrats know something, and desperation is setting in. They have a novice campaigner who wanders off message. With every advantage in the primaries, Obama couldn’t win the big states — New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania — against Hillary Clinton, even when he got to define the rules for running against him. She could never risk alienating the base she’ll need in 2012; John McCain and Sarah Palin have no such constraints — hence the panic.

For a “change” candidate, Obama appears to be a man locked in time, unable to move past criticism, unable to move from the grip of the Democratic left, unable to adapt to the changed reality that the campaign is not the referendum on the war in Iraq or on the administration of George W. Bush that he’d envisioned.

He’s begun to sound dated. Last week, for example, he devoted valuable campaign days — less than two months remain — into explaining a silly “lipstick on a pig” line. The McCain campaign had reacted, accusing him of making the reference to Palin. “I don’t care what they say about me,” Obama responded. “But I love this country too much to let them take over another election with lies and phony outrage and ‘Swiftboat politics.’ Enough is enough,” he said. (The Swiftboat reference is from the 2004 campaign of John Kerry).

The Democratic left is still seething from the Kerry campaign’s loss and is determined to see Bush expelled from the White House in disgrace — the reason it is locked in to making this a referendum on the administration now ending.

It barely worked when the maverick McCain, no darling of the Bushites, got the nomination. With Palin, the Washington outsider, the “third term” argument is plainly absurd. But Obama can’t let go, just as the lefties can’t let go of the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth defeat of Kerry. He can’t move on.

Obama has the habit, too, of reminding voters of their doubts about him, as he did in reminding a Detroit audience that he’s been accused of being less interested in protecting you from terrorists than reading them their rights. And, when he professes love of country as his basis for refusing to allow the McCain campaign to attack his words, he raises questions about why he finds the affirmation of love necessary.

Obama will lose because with less than two months remaining voters won’t be able to get comfortable with him. He can’t stay on message and he can’t avoid sending signals that interfere with the message when he does.

McCain, on the other hand, has been superb going back at least to Obama’s European tour. Mainstream America is comfortable with him and, with Palin’s selection, conservatives who had their doubts are onboard. The GOP is energized and suddenly an unwinnable election is reversed.

Obama got this far by winning small states and Southern states he has no chance of carrying in November. In Georgia, for example, the latest Insider Advantage poll has McCain pulling 56 percent of the vote to 38 percent for Obama, numbers that are not likely to change more than 4 percentage points in November. The undecideds and those who intend to vote for third-party campaigns are at 6 percent.

In this election, voters will decide early. Obama’s been in a yearlong campaign; McCain’s familiar. The two are sufficiently exposed and known for voters to make a decision now.

It’s not over. But it’s getting there — and Obama knows it.

“...and riots if he loses.”

If there are going to be riots anyway, I’d prefer riots with a silver lining.

I’m all mag’d up. Bring it on.

Panic sets in for Obama, Democrats

Obama asked Biden if he would do anything to win. "Of course, anything you say partner," Biden replied.

"So let me get this straight. You're saying Sarah and Cindy are bringing
elegance back to the White house, and Barack and I are not? Bummer.

Forward him these two links:

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH ABOUT BRACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

HOW SARAH PALIN TRUMPS OBAMA-BIDEN

Good luck. Hopefully he will be honest with himself and when he sees the horrible associations, positions, and Obama's own words, he will begin to question this man.

Well, I certainly have my point of view, but there are many here on FR more knowledgeable than I. This subject would make an interesting thread here on FR, that's for sure, and has certainly been discussed here before.

I don't know how the rabid left will react if their "dear leaders" don't get elected; if the past is any indication, particularly when inner-city blacks don't get their way (Watts riots, Rodney King riots, etc.), they will go berserk en mass, attacking, looting, burning everything within their range. The best option iin that case is to leave the area and let the "authorities" handle it.

Whatever you get for a SHTF scenario should be rugged, reliable, and patterned after what can be readily found in abundance as far as parts and ammo. For rifles that means 5.56 or 7.62 mm, and sidearms 9mm, .40S&W or .45acp. A good, inexpensive AR-15 pattern rifle can be had for under a grand now, and that weapon system guarantees you a wide availability of parts and ammo from a variety of sources, if you know what I mean. Same goes for 1911-pattern .45acp pistols.

I prefer rifles over anything else because overall they have the most utility -- shotguns are good at close range, and sidearms are readily carried (concealed or not), but a rifle is good at all ranges and AR-15s are light enough to be carried all day with little strain.

Just my opinions, of course. And don't assume that these goblins will be unarmed, either, or not know how to use them. Underestimating one's adversary will see you quickly defeated. By the way, B-Chan, it is good to hear that you will pull the trigger if you must, becuase that is essential -- a proper mindset will ensure your success more than anything, because ultimately the mind is the weapon -- all else are accessories. The best gear in the world is worthless if you don't have the stones to use it when deemed necessary, God forbid.

But if the balloon does goes up, let us not forget who will be the agressors here -- the maniacal left will start the fight; the right will finish it.

During the evening of Nov 4, 2008, when it's learned Obama carried three states and has lost the race, this country needs to be vigilant.

Areas like Detroit, Chicago, Houston, Washington D.C and L.A. are going to explode into race/political riots that will make the 60’s look like peaceful demonstrations.

I pray that our local and state governments are not being naive concerning the utter hate and violent nature of the left and are planning accordingly.

I just got off the phone with my husbands Uncle who lives in Pasadena, Tx. Home of Quanell X, radical black panther leader.

Rumors are surfacing that Quanell has already called for riots if Obama loses. He is throwing out rhetoric like the white establishment in this country are filling the ballot boxes against Obama in order to keep a black man from the White House.

If anyone doubts the radical left will become violent, all they have to do is look at the violence at the RNC.

Good thing most Freepers are armed.

SHTF ? What does it stand for?

Also, a thousand dollars is a bit much for me and my family right now, so I think I will be focusing on the cheapest outlay in terms of weapon & ammunition. And when/if this turns out to be the Y2K8 scenario where nothing really happens, I’ll have a nice plinker .22 to go off into the woods & have some fun. I think .22 is the cheapest ammo, and with a little scope on a rifle you can keep a lot of violent jerks at bay. When society breaks down, they’re looking for soft targets and will move onto the next area.

You know, I think this really would make a good thread. I’ve been posting more vanities in the last few months than in my entire Freeper existence, so perhaps you could take the lead on this one.

Obama is stumbling around in pain like he just got sacked by former Oakland Raider linebacker Bill Romanowski and can't continue the game.

That is one hell of a wack. I remember Bill when he played. You didn't want him have a clear shot at you when you had the football!

I’d like to see a thread on FR that defines spam. Also, Troll is not defined. The current definition resides in the moderators’ head, and it keeps shifting depending upon which moderator is on duty.

I assume this was written before the attack add that foolishly derided McCain for not knowing how to send an email and the subsequent debunking. Most likely today’s gaffe by the Obama campaign will prove more of a distraction and more costly than the lipstick debacle.

Hurricane Ike may keep that story under the radar.

So if Bush was in the lead all through September in 2004, why is everyone acting as if this is going to be some romp or blowout for us, when 2004 was close? Why is McCain leading now such a big deal?

A 5 point lead is not necessarily enough to overcome Democrat vote fraud. Remember the "hanging chads" debacle.

Let's not forget ammo. Any SHTF arms should have at least a thousand rounds. The reason is that, with a lot of ammo you can fire into the ground near their feet. If all you have is a hundred rounds, every round will need to go into a rioter's center of mass.
