Tough Truths About Obama's Character
IBD Editorials ^ | September 12, 2008

Election '08: Barack Obama's campaign is crying foul over John McCain's new hard-hitting ads. But the Democratic nominee has no one but himself to blame for his statements and his behavior.

One new spot slams Sen. Obama for riling up a crowd with his "lipstick on a pig" jibe on Tuesday, just days after GOP running mate Gov. Sarah Palin brought the house down at the Republican convention in St. Paul with her line about lipstick being the only difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull.

Another ad hits the former community organizer for voting when a state senator for sex education for kindergarteners. A third commercial compares dozens of Democratic Party operatives sent to Alaska looking for dirt on Gov. Palin to ferocious wolves on the hunt in the Alaskan wilderness.

Obama has accused the McCain camp of "lies." But a careful look at the video of the full Obama lipstick statement to a rally in rural southwestern Virginia indicates that it was not innocent, but exactly what Sen. McCain is accusing it of being.

After rattling off a list of policy areas in which he charged that McCain was identical to President Bush, Obama accused his opponent of calling "the same thing something different."

He added, "you can put lipstick on a pig . . . ," and he paused. It was at that point that the crowd went wild, grinning and hooting — clearly recognizing it as a reference to Palin, whose lipstick one-liner was seen and heard by millions the week before. The roars were going full blast by the time Obama finished by adding, "it's still a pig."

I agree totally that his only perceived purpose is to obtain the presidency but I wonder for what evil. The one thing I saw in Clinton, Gore, Kerry and now 0bama, is a lack of love and loyalty to the U.S. They all seem to be in it solely for the power and the glory of themselves. They criticize the U.S. more than they criticize Iran, Russia or China. It is like they’d like to bring the U.S. down to another level so that we can be acceptable to the rest of the world.

Its like they all want to be Supreme Ruler, Tyrant of the U.S. and not a servant to the people of the U.S.. We all know that Gore, Kerry and 0bama spent their time in the Senate serving themselves and their goals and never once genuinely considered the American people.

As I have posted elsewhere around the internet...

You would have to be naive, obtuse, a "sell out", or just not paying enough attention to buy into the idea that this was not an intentionally planned assault on Governor Sarah Palin by the Obama campaign.

Consider:

Item 1: "Lipstick" is a major component of the Sarah Palin brand. Anybody who has paid even a modicum of attention to the Presidential race readily associates Sarah Palin with lipstick based on the punchline she delivered the night she addressed 37 million viewers around the world (Sept St.Paul, MN). She owns the brand. The connection is unavoidable.

Item 2: Two "lipstick" references on the same day at two different Obama/Biden campaign events, half a continent away:

Item 3: It breaks the bounds of believability when attempting to reconcile Obama's adroitness with nuance, his heightened sensibilities, and his intellectual prowess with the notion that he was just blissfully unaware of the obvious connotation this remark would have. Are we to believe that he doesn't know what's been going on in the Presidential race and somehow didn't realize how this invective would be perceived? How blind would you need to be?

Item 4: Obama has a history of these denigrating and immature assaults as witnessed by the degrading, furtive gestures (middle finger April 16, Philadelphia, PA, "dust off" move April 17, Raleigh, NC) he directed at Senator Hillary Clinton during the Democratic Primary runoff.

Obama could just as easily said "you can't change the spots on a leopard" or "you can't change the stripes on a tiger". Apparently, these thoughtful alternatives would have missed Obama's target. The credulity required to embrace Obama's take on the matter approaches infinity.

Adversity reveals character and when placed in pressure situations Obama has repeatedly panicked and jumped to the gutter. It has now become clear that this is Obama's coping mechanism when faced with a crisis. He has sadly demonstrated serious deficiencies in the dignity, maturity, and courage needed to fulfill the office he seeks. His actions throughout have proven him to be the vile and hostile coward that he is. Don't bet that you won't see more of the same (unless you're one of the above, cause he's counting on you to keep covering his tracks).

It took me only one look at Obama to tell that he was something that crawled out of a Chicago sewer.

Obama avoids being in McCain’s presence like a vampire avoids the sunlight.
