Ex-Clinton Aide: Media Tougher On Palin-(Mark Penn-"The Press Has Lost Its Credibility")
CBS ^ | 9-12-08 | CBS

Posted on 09/12/2008 2:03:45 PM PDT by tcrlaf

THE MONEY QUOTES:

"I think here the media is on very dangerous ground. I think that when you see them going through every single expense report that Governor Palin ever filed, if they don't do that for all four of the candidates, they're on very dangerous ground. I think the media so far has been the biggest loser in this race. And they continue to have growing credibility problems.

And I think that that's a real problem growing out of this election. The media now, all of the media — not just Fox News, that was perceived as highly partisan — but all of the media is now being viewed as partisan in one way or another. And that is an unfortunate development."

-And-

"Well, I think that the media is doing the kinds of stories on Palin that they're not doing on the other candidates. And that's going to subject them to people concluding that they're giving her a tougher time. Now, the media defense would be, "Yeah, we looked at these other candidates who have been in public life at an earlier time."

What happened here very clearly is that the controversy over Palin led to 37 million Americans tuning into a vice-presidential speech, something that is unprecedented, because they wanted to see for themselves. This is an election in which the voters are going to decide for themselves. The media has lost credibility with them."

You KNOW it's gotten bad when DEMOCRATS, even if they are Clinton-supporters, and her campaign manager, admit that the Media has thier heads so far up Obama's Rear Orifice that they have to take of thier shirts to defecate!!

Interesting that ABC Radio played a solid Palin quote in their ad for tonight's interview.

Perhaps they are feeling some heat.

Nice try starting with a “given” that Fox is partisan. It appears that the dhimmis don’t even remember what fair and balanced is like. Keep it up, MSM, see you at McDonalds. Nope, I don’t want fries with that.

The left’s reaction to Fox News was so sweetly hillarious. After decades of liberal monopoly on ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN, and countless scoffings aimed at the right for their complaints of bias, all it took was one little Fox News for them to turn into us.

Your statement is crude but true. Unfortunately it is more a liberal “community organizer” type speak to mock the opponent in order to discredit it. Although the facts are almost self-evident, it would be better to add weight to the issue by reciting additional proofs. Given that you are singing to the choir, there will no doubt be those who you will please, but when our opponents copy your comment and make us sound like the idiots they are, it will not be helpful to our cause.

The DBM has spent decades implying (if not outright claiming) that the GOP is sexist and racist - in order to tag team that issue with Democrats. Palin shoots a hole in their credibility at least about the sexist part. Next time around, maybe the GOP can make it a twofer.

It’s tough when you’ve based years of reporting on proving a point and it all comes crumbling down in a matter of hours.

Well stated counselor. The situation now for the media is they have embarked one a one way ticket to a November loss. They can not at this point retrieve their credibility nor will they be able to reverse the trend of BHO. It all adds up to a November loss....

This is HRC giving cover to Palin via surrogate. She was questioned about Palin directly today, but she again refused to take her on. When you cross the Clinton machine, this is the kind of support you can count on.

I'm partial to this analysis. I hadn't considered it from that perspective before. 3 out of 4 scroed very high, but similiar, ratings during the conventions. Only Biden failed to do so, and maybe that reflects an opinion that he was chosen only because Obama was required to have a running mate.

“I’m partial to this analysis.”

Penn has actually hit the nail on the head with this, and he’s been a victim of it.

The Orgy of Media bias and hatred toward Sarah Palin has actually PUSHED people to listen to her, and they are liking what they here.

They are actually INSULATING Palin from criticism bevcause of all the lies they have spread, already.

And I really don't think Fox has been that biased - ever. Since when does "Fair and Balanced" mean "right-wing"? From Fox News I get objective information without interpretation and spin.

I can see how people mistake Bill O’Reilly for a conservative.

Criminey. Fox is highly partisan? Funny thing is, the left thinks all of the media is in the tank for Republicans. I would encourage the media to "balance" their presentation by being more supportive of the DEMs. That ought to cure the problem of the public having any faith at all in the media.

Ah, so 'Governor of Alaska' is not 'public life'? That's good to know.

Fox has a more equal balance of lefties and righties than any other network

the difference in Lord Rupert and Viscount Roger set the tone

that and the reporters and news readers are less openly leftist and more neutral

even Wendell

that round faced white guy on weekends is sort lib whiney

and Shep is all over the place....hard to fgure

most of the women don’t project leftism

The Media made a BIG MISTAKE in the democrat primaries this year. They treated Hillary like a republican and exposed themselves to MILLIONS of people who never noticed the media bias.

There are tons of people on the Hillary forum slapping themselves in the head now because it FINALLY happened to one of their own. Now it’s as obvious to them as it is to us. The word is spreading about the media in DEM circles now. Where their LAST BASTION of credibility exists.
