If there were any doubts that the sidekick was stealing the show, they were put to rest when Sarah Palin took off for Alaska with a wave from the tarmac by John McCain.
His crowds suddenly dwindled. The exuberant cheering heard day after day during two weeks of joint appearances went away. And the Republican presidential candidate's schedule began to resemble the lightness of May instead of the full throttle of September.
Meantime, Palin's campaign plane taking her home to Alaska was so crowded it had to let off some cargo to get the weight down.
This was a striking week to see the contrast between McCain and Palin together and the dimmed wattage around the nominee when they are apart.

McCain doesn’t care. He’s probably having fun with it. I’d bet that Sarah has told McCain to let them hammer at her and take the pressure off of him. The press is just dumb enough to fall for it.
I do recall them gushing about how important and gutsy it was for Mondale to pick a woman for VP, even though (by her own admission at the time) she was not ready to step into the Presidency, if it was so needed. The press did quickly cover that over, though . . . .
I won’t hold my breath to see if they report on the sparseness of Biden’s crowds when “The One” isn’t with him.
Someone here on FR (Miss Marple I believe) predicted this exact story!!
Before I read the article, I need to post this:
Jennifer Loven is a DNC hack!
Now, I’ll read the article and see if she disappoints.
She did NOT “stumble on foreign policy” in her ABC interview!
Asking Charlie to clarify his question about the Bush Doctrine was wise and clear.
Inside the OODA loop, indeed.

Biden has already taken a course in making animals from ballooons so he can hit the birthday/bar mitzvah circuit.
maybe the media are counting reporters as part of the crowd. When Palin left, the army of reporters followed her
The AP and San Francisco Chronicle still call Loven a “writer” and “reporter.”
All she does is editorialize. She’s not a professional journalist. She is a Liberal Commentator.
0bama will spend two days in New Hampshire which has...hold on...are you ready...4 Electoral votes.

She’s not his Side kick she is an woman who was promoted because of her abilties and talents.
Experience with small town and running a state. She is the would be the VP an executive second only to the President.
Would be the actual President if John McCain was under anestetia or some other way unable to function.
This is an important pick for someone. Not to be taken lightly as you might been in a situation where for a little while they are the POTUS and Commander and chief.
So the trust and respect he shows her tells me he can recognize some one with leadership ability and managing a tough situation well no matter what fisnish the job.
SO off all the people he could of picked he picked a Lesser known person who shows Great potential.
Obama picked Biden. While he has experience it’s not in a Leadership psition with any responsibility.
Neither of them have any. I would be scared /worried to have either in charge.
Loven ping
I have no doubt that Mrs. Palin will be President some day. She has the sense, poise and charisma to gain the office and be a very successful Chief Executive and Leader of the Free World.
