Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is not only firing women up on the campaign trail but she is also exciting women on the Web.
A dot-com startup is seeing a huge rise in traffic because it asked women what they think of Palin.
In a Silicon Valley coffee shop, women were checking the latest political news wirelessly on Thursday.
That is good news for Deborah Perry-Piscione. Her Web-based startup, bettyconfidential.com, just surveyed women about what they think of Palin.
The company got a wide-ranging response.
"Women are somewhat torn because they think she's terrific," Piscione said. "Incredible to have a woman on the ticket but they're not sure they can necessarily vote for McCain just because she's on the ticket."
Piscione said so many women responding showed her that women are not just following the campaign but instead they are following it online.
"Technology is just part of their DNA," she said. "So they have a tremendous influence on this election cycle, as they get more involved."
Women have gotten involved by blogging, fundraising and reaching out to others.
"Without a doubt I think more women will vote this election cycle, and more younger people, especially college age, will be out in droves this election cycle," Piscione said.
I just did a google search for the candidates and here are the number of hits for each.
Barack Obama 68 million
John McCain 45 million
Sarah Palin 22 million
Joe Biden 5 million.
It would be interesting to know the number of Google hits for Sarah Palin prior to McCain’s announcement. Likely a couple of million at tops.

Their current poll: Do you think Michelle Obama would make a good First Lady? FREEP IT.
If anyone wants on my "Todd Palin is a HUNK" ping list, please let me know.
21,500,000 for Sara Palin
18,000,000 for Sarah Palin
That’s almost 40,000,000 Google hits total.
I got one of those women against Palin emails today : / I thought long and hard on how to respond, because the sender is a very good friend. While we discuss politics frequently, and generally agree to disagree :} we never send political emails, because discourse via the internet can be fraught with peril :o
This is what I ended up sending, and thought maybe someone here might find themselves in a similar situation, and it would be handy to have.
“Well heck,
I did not find anything about the polar bears ; p , but if you are so inclined, I did find that a good deal of this has been “debunked”.
Thanks for sending it my way though! Like you, I do try to get alllll the information I can get my grubby little paws on, before I make my decisions
:)
p.s. here is hoping the links work :| “
