She was a slave to living like most of the rest of us and then some people with money and means heard from somebody else that she had talent. So they keep hiring her without checking out the end result.

I wish he had said “Whoopi, when were you ever a slave?”

By the way....none of the Justices of The Supreme Court involved in the Dred Scott decision (1857) were appointed by a Republican, since Abraham Lincoln was the first, elected in 1860.

I hadn't considered that. Maybe she's so far gone from the smack she thinks The Color Purple was reality.

Lets consider this...Whoopi as Comedienne, talk show host, or someone who's employed in some capacity at my home.
Looks like she strikes out on all three!

I suppose she has been on the plantation before then. Hard to see though how a McCain presidency would put her on welfare again. Not that I might welcome it.

...unless the viewership of the View is really really stupid. In which case, there’s no point in showing up on dumb shows like the View.

I was under the impression the constitution had been amended after the civil war to prevent this.
Apparently if we could explain this to whoopi and kin then they’d support strict constructionist interpretations. But then we’d have to fix the education problem first.

News flash to Whoopi:
Obama has made it clear that he wants to compel community service on the young. This is a form of slavery, Whoopi.

No whoopi, you need never fear such a thing.
There was a time when slaves were valuable and served a purpose, no one will ever confuse you with a slave.

People, it is obvious that Whoopi's remark was not a real question about slavery--she is a staunch supported of REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS/ABORTION (ie, murdering unborn babies for any reason at all) although from what I have read, she didn't force her teenage daughter to have an abortion but supported her when she decided to keep the baby...anyhoo, the #1 issue of this election is abortion, plain and simple, and the liberals are TERRIFIED that if a Republican gets back in office, not that he/she will act like George Bush for 4 more years, but that a few more SC justices will be replaced with justices who know that Roe v Wade is simply horrible horrible law and it will be repealed, which in their minds means abortions of ALL kinds will be outlawed and women will be heading to back alleys with coat hangers to take care of their little 'problems'...Whoopi was just taking pot shots at McCain in her not so subtle way by implying if Roe v. Wade is changed, then slavery amendments, women's vote, etc. could also be overturned, IMO.
