I just read this on Drudge. I am stunned that this came from UPI!
What was hilarious was her own gotcha moment. Charlie Gibson tries to say that Obama wants to cut taxes, and she replies, “He had 94 chances to vote to cut taxes or keep them from rising, and every single time he ended up on the wrong side of the issue.”
Charlie looks absolutely blank-faced over it. It was like he had gotten slapped across the face by a woman and had no idea how to respond. Hilarious!
Sarah held her own just fine because she has the TRUTH on her side.
Is this an interrogation or an interview?
“The double-standard Gibson applied to Palin, compared with the uncritical media platforms repeatedly offered to Obama, who has had zero executive experience running anything, was especially striking.”
The double standard was also today on The View. They swooned all over Obama and allowed Michelle to have a list of taboo subjects to talk about. Not McCain...they were ALL on him and tried so hard to rattle him. I was so proud of him and Palin. This will backfire and probably already has. America is watching...and paying attention. What worked before won’t now...it’s called double standarnd, it’s called bullying and it’s call disrespect...but there is less than 2 months and we are surviving and thriving.
McCain/Palin are class....and we will win!!!
I'm still seeing it!
I just watched a little segment on Nightline - first I’ve seen it.
Loved Sarah not getting rattled by the Bridge to Nowhere bullying.
And by the way - to Charlie Gibson:
Why don’t you grill Obama the same way you grilled Palin? Subject: “Committed Christian” vs “OK to practice and support infanticide”. I double dare ya.
GO SARAHCUDA, GO!
nice article
I can’t stand Gibson. He was talking down to Sarah. He is a smug, arrogant jackass and I hope this backfires on him. I started to watch 20-20 for more of the interview but I got so mad I couldn’t even get past the introduction before I had to change channels.
Better a patriotic, loyal novice when it comes to defending America and our allies than a slick, anti-American novice who’d schmooze with and enable our enemies.
Gibson was out to embarrass Palin and expose her presumed ignorance from the word go. By contrast, when Obama referred to his Muslim faith on Sunday and did not correct himself, Stephanopoulos rushed in at once to help him and emphasize that the senator had really meant to say his Christian faith. This is the money-shot. The McCain campaign must zero in on this difference.
They need a slogan that emphasizes the fact that the media is a propaganda arm of the Obama campaign.
"The Media supports our opponents, but we are not asking for the support of the Media, we are asking for the support of the American People."
No, that's no good. Though true, it sounds too trite, with a bit of a whine to it.
How about this:
Open with a shot of a press conference in which you can see the reporters, and see the Obama-Presidential-Seal podium, but you can't see Obama very clearly. The reporters start yelling out a series of questions all basically on the same theme: "Senator, are you comfortable? Can we get you a pillow?"
Or how about this:
A shot of a book-lined study. And elderly man is seated in an easy chair watching TV but you can't see his face. First he watches a few seconds of Gibson grilling Palin, then he hits the remote and watches the scene in which George S rescues Obama from his "Muslim Religion". Then he turns off the TV and turns to face the camera and it's obvious it's Ben Franklin. And he says to us: "Free press? Fair press? I don't think so."
You know what really REALLY annoyed me? After Gibson spends all that time with his gotcha questions and dripping condescension, he then makes believe he’s interested in Sarah’s her basketball championship, when he’s actually being disgustingly patronizing.
Gibson was really horrible.
Gibson comes out the big loser from this hit piece. He has lost a great deal of credibility. People who never watch ABC News will remember his snooty, condesending interview with Governor Palin.
Backfire=Backlash.
I thought some of the post-game analysis on ABC was pretty accurate.
The interview was a Rorhshach (sp?) test- those who liked her going in to the interview still like her. Those who didnt like her still dont. Many of those in the middle probably havent made up their minds based on the interview.
Finally, some of those in the middle who are angry at how the MSM has been mistreating Palin (this interview is Exhibit #256) will empathize with her, admire her grace and intelligence that she displayed with Gibson, and will become Palinized. So all in all, there will be a net gain.
Never wrestle with a pig on national television. If you do, you'll make it harder for the audience to recognize which participant is you and which is the pig.
The best thing McCain and Palin can do is maximize the contrasts between themselves and their opponents. I think they've been doing that very well.
Americans really don't want a President who is going to punch a foreign prime minister in the nose when he feels insulted. On the other hand, real Americans don't want one who will simply cave in to pressure, either.
Well of course to be fair you give the easiest questions to the stupid one.
Funny how he tried to make Sarah look stupid by editing her answers, but now the truth is coming out, and he's looking like an idiot for trying to cheat the American public.
Your credibility just went down the toilet, Charlie, and you flushed the handle.
Sarah's got too much class for that. Better to have him hoist himself on his own petard.
Sarah Palin, man magnet:
McCain’s veep pick is attracting men who backed Hillary & uniting GOP
