SACRAMENTO, Calif. - California has become the main front in a war over offshore oil drilling.
Congress may soon vote to allow drilling for oil at at least 50 miles from America's coastline - but not in the Golden State, if leaders have anything to say about it.
The California Assembly has taken a firm stand against the drilling, saying that the move would protect the state's beaches.
Many drivers who cram into the state's packed freeways are singing a different tune. Some told NBC Bay Area they want lower prices now - and if drilling is what it takes -- then so be it.

If California voters pulled their heads out of their collective arse and realized they could actually get money from the government for licensing oil production off the coast, they might actually pass such an initiative.
Why not?
Doesn’t California get it’s electricity from out of state?
LOLOL!

California, where children grow up to hold public office so they can destroy it.
You couldn't be more righter!!!
Like Jerry “The Fairy” Brown, for one of the best examples!!!
Oh come on... there has to be a presidential candidate in that Gang of Ten. Everyone knows these gangs are wholesome, doing just the right thing for our nation. /s
Just one more reason why I won’t be supporting you know who.
I agree, couldn’t be more righter it is!
Yep! And Arnie should got back home if he wants to destroy a place.
“”BULLETIN: OIL FALLS BELOW $100 A BARREL FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE EARLY APRIL”
Bush’s, Palin and McCain’s fault!
Hopefully, several left wing owned/controlled hedge funds will lose enough money on their oil and gold holdings to go out of business.
I was just contemplating some sort of environmental drilling/processing Tax for the land of Fruits and Nuts...

That’s a fantastic idea. But then we have Swartzaneggar for Governator and that ain’t likely to happen. And the California legislature has created the budgetary mess we’re in. Yet, they will re-elect these f*cks in a heartbeat. There is no England anymore. There is no California anymore. In short, they won’t pull their heads out of their arse because Californians have become accustomed to the taste of their own sh*t. California, Oregon, and Washington... Call them the “lost coast”.
