Sarah Palin Defends Experience, Takes Hard Line Approach on National Security
Republican VP Candidate Speaks with ABC News' Charlie Gibson in Exclusive Interview

On the anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history, Gov. Sarah Palin took a hard-line approach on national security and said that war with Russia may be necessary if that nation invades another country.
In her first of three interviews with ABC News's Charles Gibson and the only interview since being picked by Sen. John McCain as his Republican vice presidential nominee, Palin categorized the Russian invasion of Georgia as "unacceptable" and warned of the threats from Islamic terrorists and a nuclear Iran.
The Governor advocated the accession of Georgia and Ukraine into NATO.
When asked by Gibson if under the NATO treaty, the U.S. would have to go to war if Russia again invaded Georgia, Palin responded: "Perhaps so. I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help.
"And we've got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable," she told ABC News' Charles Gibson in an exclusive interview.

Again..there was no “gotcha” moments.
She didn’t say anything “dumb”, she gave an answer on the God question and even tied her comments to Lincoln, Gibson conceded her the point.
She didn’t, and here is the most important thing, she didn’t get testy or sarcastic and lose her cool.
THAT my friends, is the main thing Gibson was trying to get her to do...lose her composure.
She was great.
Oh, I was just thinking the other day I’m going to miss W and his nukular, now we have a new person to say nukular!

I didn’t see that so much as I saw people who I knew had HATED the man being forced to say nice things about him. It was sweet. Bittersweet.

Well, Charlie allows Obama to answer the questions almost without limit while he tried limit Palins answers.
And one of his questions to Hillary mentions her "30 years" in politics as if she personally has 30 years in office. Hillary has about 7 years, not 30! Being Billys wife doesn't count as experience.
It seems to me he was more than genial and fair to Obama and Hillary while he was a jerk to Palin.

I kind noticed 'something' here. Was not sure exactly, what she was saying or rather, 'how'. Could have just been a bit of 'vowel' dropping or something. OR. . .she IS a Bush clone!
Whatever. . .NO question, that there is genuine 'WILL' behind her words. . .and intelligence.

I wish I could have became an will-o'-wisp to whisper the Bush Doctrine into her ear. She would have hammered it out of the park. :-)
We should all be outraged that they lopped off “Pray” from “Pray that our national leaders are sending our troops on a task that is from God” in the YouTube clip. They changed it from a plea to a zealot-like warmongering statement.
I think that's why she said 'perhaps'. She advocates Georgia being a part of NATO.
Why don’t you do something new like read the transcript? The question was asked IF GEORGIA WERE A NATO MEMBER. RIF.

I’ve only seen two clips - when she was asked if she was ready to be president and when she was asked if God was on our side. I swear I don’t know what everyone’s complaining about - she was wonderful. Gibson deliberately misconstrued her quote about “God on our side” - (with some shameful editing). And Sarah came back beautifully, clarifying herself with a quote from Lincoln. She spoke about her son going off to war in Iraq today.
I’ve only seen ‘the Bush Doctrine’ answer in transcript. Is there an actual clip of that?
LOL - I thought the same thing! Maybe she is doing that to really tick off the liberals! I love it!
I think she did fine. I am not sure about the clip.
