First on TVNewser: Insiders tell us the first Charlie Gibson/Sarah Palin interview is complete. The first sit-down lasted 30 minutes and included questions about energy independence, foreign affairs and whether Gov. Palin is ready to be Vice President. "Absolutely," is her response. When asked if she is ready to step in and be president of the United States. Palin answers, "You bet."
We're told Gibson asked for two extra minutes and used it to ask Palin whether she agrees with the "Bush Doctrine." Among Palin's responses:
"The top priority is to defend the United States of America. I know that John McCain would do that."
"With new leadership comes opportunity to do things better."
"War has got to be a last option."
"If a strike is imminent we have every right to defend our country...and that's what a McCain/Palin administration would do."
"In order to stop Islamic extremists we must do whatever it takes. We must not blink, Charlie."
Of course, he only gave the part of the quote that fit his bias... The full quote was "pray for our young men and women...that our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God." Of course, Charlie had to make it sound like she was saying it was a task from God, when she was asking for prayer for the military that the task they were sent on would be from God.
There is a plan and it is Gods plan.
Another truncated quote. The actual quote was, "That's what we need to be praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."
Whoa. my goodness.
She sounds like one of the founding fathers ! Quoting Abraham Lincoln before that. Taking a Reaganesque stand on national security.
WOW.
Gee, what a coincidence.
The abcnews.com clip of the Palin interview is preceded by a commercial from Citgo, a company owned by a country, Venezuela, that is run by a man that hates America and just had two Russia bombers practicing missions from its soil.
Repeating,
Charles Gibson's exclusive interviews with Gov. Sarah Palin beginning tonight on "World News" and "Nightline."
Charles Gibson will do three interviews with Palin today and tomorrow.
More Friday on "Good Morning America " at 7 a.m. ET," "World News" and on "20/20," which will broadcast a one-hour special edition at 10 p.m. ET/9 p.m. CT.
Georgia is NOT currently a NATO member. Both Georgia and the Ukraine have signaled their desire to join. We CAN choose to support non-NATO members if we think their cause is just. Which is what we did/are doing with Georgia.
Can anyone tell me if Georgia is a member of NATO. And please go to the comments section of ABC news about Palin’s stance on National Security. The libs are savaging her.
Palin gave the correct response. By treaty doctrine, an attack on any NATO nation(s) is an attack on all NATO nations. Any other response would be construed a gaffe.
OK, I'm confused. How can three interviews span 6 shows including the one hour long 20/20. I'll have to record them all. So what's ET gonna do? Critique her clothes and hairdoo?
Thanks!! I wasn’t sure and ABC was in my opinion attempting to trip her up. They succeeded with the libs who wanted her to come across as a war monger. You should read some of the comments at ABC. It is totally depressing. Their comments section really needs to be freeped.
Georgia is not currently a member of NATO.
NOW we know Joe Biden's real purpose in this campaign......SACRIFICIAL LAMB
How far does that outrank SPEEDBUMP?
Now as an Alaskan who has met Sarah and watched her grow and lead for a while, I take offense to that.
Palin would eat Rove alive. Bush is Rove. Palin is Jefferson.
There is no comparison between president Pollyanna (Bush) and Sarah Palin.
Thanks!!
It's what NATO did in Kosovo.
Then go here and enter your Zip Code to find out what channel ABC is.
I didn't know if I get ABC or not.
Georgia is NOT a member of NATO and she did NOT suggest that they were. She referred to them as an ally and correctly stated that when called upon, NATO may elect to use military force to help.
You can be sure they decided that frontal shots with her big smile are too appealing.
He pushers her and she backs away from a full military commitment under NATO:
GIBSON: And you think it would be worth it to the United States, Georgia is worth it to the United States to go to war if Russia were to invade. (Following up on NATO)
PALIN: What I think is that smaller democratic countries that are invaded by a larger power is something for us to be vigilant against. We have got to be cognizant of what the consequences are if a larger power is able to take over smaller democratic countries.
And we have got to be vigilant. We have got to show the support, in this case, for Georgia. The support that we can show is economic sanctions perhaps against Russia, if this is what it leads to.
It doesn’t have to lead to war and it doesn’t have to lead, as I said, to a Cold War, but economic sanctions, diplomatic pressure, again, counting on our allies to help us do that in this mission of keeping our eye on Russia and Putin and some of his desire to control and to control much more than smaller democratic countries.
You are right, but that is not the way the liberal press will spin it.
