Unless, in fact, this election is about Palin. And it has to be. She - along with the Iraq war - is the embodiment of McCain's claim to presidential judgment and experience. If she is a fraud, and has been proven a demonstrable liar in ways that a competent campaign would have vetted six months ago, McCain's campaign is over, and deserves to be over. As is the election. I don't see how we can know anything until she has answered a series of obvious, factual questions from the press corps about the truthfulness of her various statements in the public record.

Besides, Obama needs to respond to the insane and desperate lies being lobbed at him. He's not Dukakis. And he should also keep reminding voters that, unlike the McCain camp, who don't want to discuss the issues in this campaign, he does.

LOL. At least with Dukakis, who was also an ultra-lib, there was some actual track record as a Governor and previously a state legislator. There was some real record of (liberal) accomplishment even if we might disagree with or disdain what Dukakis stood for. But Obama is just an empty suit, and a thoroughly dishonest one at that.

Since Obama is the creation of the Press Corps, of course they have to rescue him. They seem to believe they can just pick an absurd Silly Person at random and create their own president out of it. Dukakis. Gore. Kerry. (Was in Vietnam, reporting for duty, the People are so stupid they will blindly vote for a JFK from Massachusetts, even if it is the name of a stray dog.)

I think the opposition still does not understand that the grown ups consider character more than anything else.

Issues are important, but issues also change, as our opinions and what should be done about them also do (these things are fluid).
But character is enduring. And Mr Obama, you neither have, or can ever hope to obtain the character Sen. McCain or Gov. Palin have in their little pinky fingers.
