My son was luckier. I called him after the first plane hit. We were speaking and I could hear the noise and screams when the second plane hit. “Dad, I have to hang up now. We’re being evacuated.” The the cellphone system was swamped and I spent the next six hours wondering ... He made his way across the Brooklyn Bridge in that exodus and was able to call me that afternoon.

FYI

Gibson is traveling to Fairbanks and Wasilla, Alaska, for the first TV interviews with Palin since she was selected as John McCain's running mate. The first excerpts of the talks will be shown on "World News" Thursday.

Gibson is having three separate interviews with Palin, ABC said. Parts of the interviews will be spread around other ABC news programs, including "Nightline" and "Good Morning America."

The prime-time special, at 10 p.m. EDT, will also include a bio of Palin by ABC's Kate Snow and a round-table discussion on the presidential race moderated by George Stephanopoulos.

I'm glad...they never did locate my stockbroker's remains. He left his wife, 2 sons and a daughter (all under 7). :-( Another friend was going to be on the flight 11 to sign a hockey contract with the LA Kings. He told the scout he'll fly out later.

He never did play NHL hockey.
