Like neighboring Montana, North Dakota has become a lot friendlier to John McCain in the first polling conducted since Sarah Palin was nominated to be the Republican Vice Presidential nominee.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of North Dakota voters shows McCain with a 14-percentage point lead over Barack Obama, 55% to 41%. In early July, the candidates were tied in the state and Obama was looking to the Dakotas and Montana as a way to expand the electoral map for Democrats. Now, the Democratic nominee appears to be more focused on traditional battleground states.
McCain now leads by 22 percentage points among independent voters. In July, Obama had a ten-point advantage among those voters.
In North Dakota, continues to enjoy a double digit lead among men and has gained a lot of ground among the states women voters. The Republican ticket now leads by eleven among North Dakota women after trailing by nine in July (crosstabs available for Premium Members).
A similar phenomenon took place in Montana which went from a toss-up in July to a double-digit McCain lead this month. Nationally, the candidates are essentially even in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.

In North Dakota, McCain is now viewed favorably by 67% of voters and Palin earns positive reviews from 64%.
Obama gets a favorable response from 52% while 47% say the same of his running mate, Joe Biden.

LoL!
I did the search by using all of the Rasmussen headline didn’t get anything back.
‘Dakota’ would be the ‘unique word’ for a search
The best result of the selection of Sarah Palin as the VP candidate, was the attention it gives to the real issues and values of the Obama campaign.
There was no way that the good people of ND were going to vote for the radical pro-abortionist, Barack Obama. Seeing the reaction of the pro-choicers and their nasty statements about Sarah Palin, her daughter, and the innocent little son, Trig, must have been an eye opener to those who had not yet tuned in to the campaign.
It is really true that the elitists do not understand “fly-over country” and it’s values.
Yes I know... in a rush.
A lot can happen between now and Nov 4th but this sure is getting interesting.
McCain has 3% HIGHER Favorables????
The "Map" for Barack is getting smaller by the day.
Yes. Thank you; those are more along the lines I’d expect to see on any ND election. Now if we could just fix the Washington delegation.
The democrats have surrendered in Georgia (twice this year!) and are evacuating to the friendlier confines of North Carolina.
Where Obama only trails by 20 points.
Seriously - I don’t abortion is that big a difference in ND. Sarah draws the pro-western, anti-eco, protect the hunting and fishing responsibly, ranching and grazing, pro-oil, pro-coal, and pro-outdoor vote.
And she might draw a few men too.
But Cindy is going to have to get the North Dakota NASCAR vote with her drifting team.
(After she tells everybody that drifting teams does NOT refer to driving oxen through sleet and blizzards.)
I am happy to hear it, the dems do own NY though. until I finally move from hillary’s adopted state, I will never have my vote count for anything.
If you can vote to keep the New York legislature from going totally Dem, you can help us avoid a very bad gerrymander in the next 10 years.
The GOP was more successful in the 2000s and 1990s in Congress than in the 1980s to quite an extent due to differences in gerrymandering.
THE STATEHOUSE RACES ARE VERY IMPORTANT.
I hope Obama has wasted money on these unreachable red states.
The more in the hole he is on money the better for us.
I vote all Republican in every single election, but ya know what? they never even bother to ASK me for their vote.
LOL!
BTTT!
