Given the limited population of Alaska relative to, say California, Boxer’s statement is preposterous.

Actually it is fairly easy to look this up. Alaska does have a high number of rape and incest cases. I worked in AK in a psych hospital as a nurse supervisor from 1992-1994. We had a high case load of incest especially among the Eskimo population even then. Unfortunately, there is also a large percentage of alcohol abuse among the indigenous tribes. AK is a unique environment quite different than the lower 48. Incest has been a problem even before the ‘whites’ settled in. The increase in alcoholism hasn’t helped. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is also rampent there. Eskimos have a high percentage of abortions also and continue to have this even though many Eskimo are Catholic. To even attach a connection to this and Gov. Palin is just another liberal trick. Alaska has abortions available if one chooses. Planned Parenthood is very visable. They are just trying to knock her one more time for her personal beliefs which are separate from her governing.

If Barbara think's Gov. Palin is responsible for the levels of rape in Alaska, she needs to make the case.
To the point, she thinks abortion is the preferred choice for rape and incest, she needs to explain her opinion. Why should we remove the choice from the hands of the victim.
Crime rates are unrelated to that decision.

PER CAPITA ALaska leads in everything from high school dropout rate, rape and alcoholism (related no doubt) to ice cream and pizza consuption.

Whether she is lying is not really the issue. If Lieberman or some Republican congressman said on television that gays are more likely to molest children, the outcry from the Dems for his resignation would be deafening.
