LOL! Well, now that I’ve been registered and posting for over 7 years, I’ve figured that out. But, I jus’ gots to say, the “bright” halo has slipped over the years. That’s really not exclusive to FR, though. It’s a reflection of public discourse on the internet as a whole.
LOL it’s cos they R txting to the other loser in the next dorm.
If they knew anything about critical thinking they wouldn’t be DUmmies.
THANKS!
GLOBAL WARMING!!!
DU represents the dregs of the Rat party, not only morally, but intellectually.
This is why I am impressed with the PUMAs and predict that, now that they are politically awakened to the fact that they need not remain on the plantation any longer, some of the PUMAs will eventually become Republicans and then conservatives. They write well, with sound, linear reasoning; they mostly avoid the profanity and other signs and symptoms of arrested adolescence; and they allow “facts to get in the way.”
The intelligence and cognitive ability that is characteristic of the PUMAs is so far above what appears to be the rank-and-file Rat base member, it astounds.
I disagree. The discourse at FR is so far above that at DU, it might as well be in another intellectual galaxy.
You got that right.
Just trying to read the comments to random news articles-—say, something on football-—is excruciating. There is no grammar. There are no sentences. There seem to be no complete or organized thoughts that the “writer” is attempting to articulate. The first “point” is always profanity and personal insult-—among people who, unlike in a community such as FR, have no history at all with the person they are insulting.
I, for one, quickly decide to not even go there. Let the illiterates and vulgar spew among themselves. However, that then creates a vicious cycle. Those who can reason and articulate reasoning, don’t. Thus discouraging others would can reason and articulate reasoning from joining the discussion as well.
Sometimes I wonder if we ought not to take it as our civic duty to regularly provide rational, well-articulated comments “out there” just to try to keep that standard alive.
I do.
Ouch, mebbe, but also wery, wery funny.
DUmmies don’t think. As I was telling my wife, I definately have my opinions, but they aren’t and weren’t formed because I didn’t research. These idots and ignorant people base their opinions on nothing of substance. 90% of the arguments or discussions I get into with thes ekinds of people are deconstructed within a minute because I have knowledge beyond a headline.
You mentioned that even some of the DUmmie bigs are getting nervous that their vulgar and childish site will provoke a backlash.
There was a thread here today about how some of the Rat insiders are saying the election is unraveling just as it did for McGovern. I thought they were going to talk about Obambi, but they didn’t. The thing they focused on was the appalling and revolting behavior of their own supporters, particularly the yute of the Rat party.
They stated that similar crappola had led many people who despised Nixon to vote for him over McGovern anyway because they refused to give credence to and to facilitate the political ascendance of such moronic, and ultimately dangerous, sects in the Rat party.
*snicker*
You’re absolutely right. Dismissing the infiltrators, of course, there’s not one soul there past the intellectual and/or emotional level of Junior High. It’s a day care center.
M: (Knock)
A: Come in.
M: Ah, Is this the right room for an argument?
A: I told you once.
M: No you haven't.
A: Yes I have.
M: When?
A: Just now.
M: No you didn't.
A: Yes I did.
M: You didn't
A: I did!
M: You didn't!
A: I'm telling you I did!
M: You did not!!
A: Oh, I'm sorry, just one moment. Is this a five minute argument or the full half hour?
Thank you, kind sir.
Feelings require simple statements, and involve no facts or explanation, they just are, no argument is being made.
Logic on the other hand requires thinking and detailing how and why you reached your conclusions, factual support for your argument, etc.
I noticed that as well.
Half sentences and odd words sprinkled here and there, but they never really SAY anything.
My brain needed decontamination after that.
Um, yes it is. Our entire vocabulary does not comprise of F*#% and a few other scattered words typed up at random.
Gone are the early days of Free Republic when substantive opinion and analysis was common.
I've looked at some pretty old threads and don't see what you're complaining about. Nothing much has changed on FR that way. Maybe spending so much time over at DU has fried your brain.
LOL!!!
Spot on, metmom. There is no comparison between FR and DUh.
