John "Jack" Murtha has represented Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District for 36 years! How could someone last that long who was an unindicted co-conspirator in the Abscam scandal of the early 1980s, who is the most egregious serial abuser in the House of Representatives of what is known as the "earmark" scandal, and whose false accusations triggered a career-ending witch hunt of eight brave Marines merely for partisan purposes?
The answer is quite simple: John Murtha "gets away with it" by subverting the Democratic process through what is commonly referred to as "the power of the incumbent." It consists of three main components collectively referred to as the "Incumbent Protection Act": ....

Murtha has been buying his elections with huge “earmarks”.
Can Lt. Col. William Russell acturally beat Murtha in a district designed for specially for him?
Any Polls out? How is Russel’s campaign going. what type of district does he have?
No Polls. The campaign is doing fine, just opened it’s second campaign office yesterday and has now raised almost 2 million dollars, an alltime record for a Murtha challenger.The district is designed for conservative candidates but D’s outnumber R’s 2 to 1. President Bush recieved 48% of the district vote in 2004.
That’s the 12th Congressional District:
From Wikipedia;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pennsylvania’s_12th_congressional_district
The 12th Pennsylvania congressional district is located in southwestern Pennsylvania. It is a heavily Gerrymandered district. It consists of all of Greene County, and parts of Allegheny, Armstrong, Cambria, Fayette, Indiana, Somerset, Washington, and Westmoreland Counties.
Sorry. My bad!. The picture that I saw of a picture of Pennsylvania, the numbers were so small it looked like 18.
No problem! Actually, I’m in the next district (Shuster’s district in Indiana County - he’s a Republican), and I had heard about Murtha’s district lines being so convoluted. I didn’t actually know the district number until I went to look it up just now! LOL!
In all seriousness, though. We need to get Murtha OUT!
Dump Murtha, bump!
That's some impressive fundraising. Did the campaign meet its goal of 200K by tomorrow to run that Haditha advertisement?
I'm in 5th district of Virginia and our Representative Virgil Goode (R-VA) is a good solid Conservative. The 6th district also has a 'fairly good' conservative in Bob Goodlatte...however, I wish he was for the Fair Tax.
It's the 9th district that we need to get rid of pro-baby-killer Rick Boucher. Several really good, conservative candidates have run against him, but Roanoke, Salem, Blacksburg (with VA-Tech) and the New River Valley has a very liberal majority. Barry Obambi has been campaigning there...just yesterday even.
There’s no official announcement as yet, but they put up a teaser on the campaign website;”BREAKING NEWS coming this week. Stay Tuned.”; it could be about the 200,000. My guess is they raised it and even more.
