McCain camp screwing up by reponding to Pig comment (vanity)
Me

Posted on 09/10/2008 8:10:53 AM PDT by Scythian

I believe is a major mistake by the McCain camp. They could have let the 'Pig' comment go and been endeared even further. But now, they are taking on the victim status and seem small and petty, and as if they are using this as a way to avoid talking about issues. This response is going to cause Obama to take back the lead again in the polls.

Its the next day after the comment, it is not a week ago. It will fade and make no difference. My opinion only.

CNN and MSNBC are covering Palin on the stump. She’s talkign about Iraq and the surge.

This is good for us. Obama’s response is what it is. Maybe it defuses the issue, maybe not. It does not help him.

So McCain should be more like George Bush?

No thanks.

We’ve seen how that “compassionate, detached” thing works out...

In. Their. Face!

Great tip, thanks! Obama is looking like the light weight he claims not to be. You have to commend the McCain campaign for the way their running and the way they have used leftist tactics against the left. It works every time. They hate getting a dose of their own medicine. If they go totally unhinged maybe they will play the Nazis card.

Today, I’m in agreement. The ‘gaff’ was made and was hit hard yesterday, and is now spreading through the news and blogs like a wildfire. McCain campaign put out an ad, which frankly I don’t think is necessary, but it was done. Now they just need to stop talking about it. Let the wound fester while Barry tries to sputter and spin his way out of it. If McCain focuses on it too much and too long they do begin to risk looking like ‘victims’ and we need them to portray an aura of power and being above these comments.

Women do not think this was a “slip of the tongue” because Barry appeared to regret having to say it(hand on forehead gesture) before he came out with it. This was a deliberate insult to Sarah, and women do not like that.

Actually, I’m more concerned about his “My Muslim faith” remark. Who is he, really?

I think they should drop it, but it will not be the reason for poll changes either way. I am so tired of whiny reactions to insults.

This was measured. It was intentional. There is nothing in Obama’s history to suggest we give him the benefit of the doubt. Just look at the way he launched his political career. He is one of the lowest of the low. Additionally, what better way to destroy the Dems than with their own weapon? They have used politically incorrect gaffes to destroy the career of many a good conservative. It’s time to use the “Corbomite Maneuver” on these idiots.

Sarah will handle it fine. This is a classic case of the whole liberal “pc” movement coming back to bite these jerks in the arse. They created the pc bed, let them sleep in it. Remember Macaca!!!

The McCain camp needs to laugh it off and be done with it.

Yep, hit it and move on.

Defending the honor of a lady is never wrong.

I would have assaulted the black racist... but then that’s just me.

This is red meat for Palin on a stump speech with the women coming from miles to see and hear her.

She has to come up with a good line that will blow Obami to hell for good.

Anyone agree? The 'Pig' comment seems small and trivial, so somebody calls you a pig? good grief, it's politics. Stop wining, he knocked them off message and this is what it is all about. Ignore it.

i think they need to move on... they should let us take care of trivial things like that...

Do you think Obama would have let something like this slide by if Palin or McCain would have used a phrase that included ‘monkey’ or ‘chimp’ or anything else that could have remotely referred to a black person? You know they wouldn’t, and the media would be calling for their heads on a plate. Obama knew what he was saying, and now he’s paying a price for it. To me, it’s not so much the phrase as it is showing him to be a childish, petty, easily angered man. The McCain camp is being run brilliantly, and as soon as they believe enough damage has been done to Obama, they’ll move on.

Has anyone noticed how long his fingers are? (one fingered salute picture) Makes me think of a spider.

That’s great. It should include the other 2 times he gave Hillary the finger, along with the dates and locations and a tag line referencing his attempt to deny his lie about his subliminal messages via gestures and words.

He thinks he can get away with it.

It would be powerful if Todd Palin made a statement to Obama.

I don’t see McCain as whining.
He’s taking advantage of an opponent’s blunder.
President Bush would have turned the other cheek and in fact, probably defended Obama.
Which infuriated us on so many occasions.
Obama is used to getting away with his slimy behavior-because no one has ever had the huevos to call him on it.
The guy is clearly not what the media presented him to be.
The curtain has come down and revealed that the real Barry is just an angry black man.
Wrapped in media bows and scripted speeches.
McCain and Palin will stay on message.
Talk radio ,the internet and chit chat in the office coffee rooms will continue the discussion.
Which is very damaging to Obama.

Let's see. The editor of the Harvard Law Review didn't use the double entendre of “lipstick and pig” in this case INTENTIONALLY? Really Barack, why don't YOU spare US the phony outrage and naivete.
