Palin surviving media onslaught
Herald Sun ^ | 10 September 2008 | Mira Oberman

THE torrent of damaging stories which have emerged in the days since Sarah Palin was tapped to be the Republican vice presidential nominee have done nothing to dampen the chants of "Sa-rah! Sa-rah!" at rallies across the United States.

Votersdon't seem to care about a Washington Post story describing how Palin, the advocate of slashing wasteful spending, billed taxpayers for 312 days of meals and expenses when she spent the night at home.

And the revelation that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant and intends to keep the baby simply made her seem to many like more of a regular person whose family practices their anti-abortion beliefs.

"She's become my idol," Marty Wright, 65, said after waiting hours in the rain to hear Palin speak in Lebanon, Ohio, yesterday.

"I was soaked to the skin and I've been out here long enough to dry," Mrs Wright said as she shook out a pink t-shirt with Palin and running mate John McCain's name on it.

"But it was worth it."

Instead of turning on Palin, the crowds have begun to boo the reporters who follow her on the campaign trail and shout "be fair" and "tell the truth" when they spot press badges and laptops.

This is becoming bigger than an election between McCain and Obama.

It’s The People vs. The Media.

I think the media is going to lose.

Some voters have actually managed to learn the whole story and understand that what she billed the state was peanuts compared to what she saved the state by not having to maintain a separate governor's mansion complete with chef and servants.

A few more voters have even begun to question why the Marxist Mainstream Moron Media won't even touch similar questions about Oba Mao.

Surviving? HELL, SHE'S THRIVING!!! Every nasty attack on Sarahcuda adds another electoral vote to the McCain/Palin ticket.

It's like the Marines first going into combat in Korea. When told to retreat, they said, "RETREAT??? HELL, WE JUST GOT HERE!!"

I daresay the Governor is doing quite well. She really seems to not be bothered. She has a great “game face.” Good for her! Stay Strong Sarah!

This is totally the Roadrunner vs. Wile E. Coyote stuff we are watching here.

They got three shots at sinking Sarah… ABC interview, the debate, and one last push on this troopergate stuff.

The MSM has already lost because their poor treatment of Governor Palin has shown their very blatant bias. Why do you think the stocks of newspaper companies are tanking?

One of the best assets the McCain/Palin campaign has is the mainstream media.

Every attack energizes us and in the end demoralizes the 0’s when they realize that, once again, it has failed.

Please Lord, give us journalists who don’t understand that there are a lot more places in America like Wasilla, Alaska than the Upper West Side of Manhattan. And please don’t let them realize that there are more people who graduated from schools like the University of Idaho than Harvard or Yale.

No kidding, and they don't even know it. RCP has flipped North Carolina, McCain in way ahead in Ohio. If they send Rudi and Sarah to Florida to do their "just a couple of small town mayors" routine it is all over.

Osama is toast. The big thing to watch in the next eight weeks is how long Sarah's skirttails are. Some might be in for a big surprise. Wouldn't it be great to see Pelosi and Reid in smaller offices?

if Sarah can overcome the disgusting vile dailykos/DU attacks on her daughter and baby, she can overcome the media...and Putin.

So far, to the best of my knowledge, every mud ball thrown at Gov. Palin has been successfully deflected with rational and ethical justification.

Can the same be said of the Obamessiah??

The crowds should shout "Investigate Biden in Delaware!". Where are the investigative reporters on the timeline with Beau Biden covering Joe Biden (using false arrest, bogus charges, and no evidence) to arrest a detractor just prior to Joe's VO candidacy being announced? Why isn't the Karaoke Media Machine poking around Joe's train tickets to go to work?

I had a feeling of peace and contentment when Greta of FoxNews was interviewing the people in one of Sarah’s home towns in AK: (Wasilla?). The people were direct, well spoken, had conviction, showed genuine love - not the same old worn out bon mots of the fan crowd - but of friendship and true knowledge of Sarah and her family and her performance on the job and as a mom.

If this woman can create such deep pleasure in those who have known her for years, I realize this isn’t a ‘campaign stump’ on her part at all - but Sarah giving herself up to
the people who also want to know her.

She has nothing to hide - and we can gain much.

This must frighten the news media whose primary focus is to concentrate on the faults and negatives of candidates they don’t know.

She makes the ‘wrong kind of news’ for them ... positive attraction. Had they not made such a fuss over Obama to begin with, they might have found Sarah Palin much more newsworthy. Obama is a limited topic and when we get over the ‘newness of his blackness’, he’s just the same old politico dressed up differently.

Sarah is multi-faceted like a well-cut gem, and can stretch out for months in great news stories attracting many more people.

Bad call on the part of the media and they are having a tantrum.
