Except McCain was NOT talking about Hillary.

People who are saying: Well, John said it...obviously don't know the context of WHY John said it and what he meant.

People aren't that stupid Mr. Obama. They know exactly who you threw it at. You think the applause was for you or your remark??

"I guess McCain did too, when he used the same term to refer to Clinton's health care plan. It's just that Hillary didn't make such a production out of it. "

Hilliary didn't use the word "lipstick" in any speech a week or two prior to McCain's use of the term. Did you miss Gov. Palin's speech at the convention? The "pit bull/lipstick" comment was one of the top 5 sound bites from her speech that was played repeatedly after the convention. If you watch the clip, the audience behind Obama knew what he was talking about.

If anything this makes McCain look weak and overly sensitive.

On substance, you're right. But anybody who's been seriously attracted towards Barry so far really doesn't look at substance, or else they'd see him for the empty suit that he is.

We've been hoping that the McCain campaign would start attacking Obama, and now that it's begun, I couldn't be happier. The whole thing, while mere kerfluffle, takes Obambi off his message and even possibly provokes a counterattack that really shows him to be nothing but words.

The Magic Negro has not faced any serious opposition so far, even Hillary had to handle him with kid gloves, because she didn't want to tick off his base which she'd need in a general election. With 95% of black voters already in the tank for Barry, McCain has nothing to lose by going after him with everything including the kitchen sink.

This could be the Howard Dean "YEEEEEAAAAARRRRGGG" moment or "The One", if the base would stop being such gutless apologists.

In this age of sound bites, it’s simple word association. Gov. Palin likened herself to a pit bull with lipstick, and Sen. Obama chose to tie that lipstick to another animal. If you see the folks sitting behind him, and their reaction (as if at a comedy club), I certainly got the impression he was throwing an insult at her.

The crowd cheered because the heard the “brand” as you called it being used against the republicans.. just as Republican crowds have cheered when they heard the line “change is not a destination and hope is not a strategy”.

LIbs believe Palin is the lipstick on McCain’s pig, that she’s done nothing, has nothing, is all show and just a pretty face. They cheered because that’s exactly what Fauxbama said, and used her “brand” to say it.

Now, there is no doubt how stupid this is for Fauxbama, as it creates a needless controversey he has to defend himself against, but its a disingenuous attack by the McCain campaign, they know damned well what Fauxbama actually said, and what was meant by it. Its a good thing strategically what they did, but it cheapens the campaign, there are so many things Fauxbama has said and done that don’t need to be taken out of context that latching onto this one like this is frankly embarrassing.

The McCain campaign has disappointed me with this, we can do better. We’re winning by taking the higher road and making sure when we do criticize Fauxbama its on legitimate issues and differences, and now here we give credence to the liberal claims of out of context quotes and misrepresentations.

Obama’s own words don’t need anything else. He looks arrogant and insulting to moms.

Whether people think he meant it or not, they will still hear him stumble through a line where he sounds like a thug. Sooooooooooo presidential, Barry.

Obama looks enough like a kid that he can claim “Bully” and get away with it. That's part of his secret.H@ll...victim is always the Dem secret....while they smear away.

Make no mistake...this was a juvenile smear. Extremely rude and disgusting, but it was planned and he will have a sympathy come back to try to win back the Moms. Be ready for it if you are going to use this.

There is no doubt it was meant as a insult to the McCain campaign, but it was clearly not the calling of Palin “a pig”. If anything it was calling Palin the lipstick, and as I have stated before this is truly what liberals believe, that she’s just a do nothing pretty face meant to dress up the McCain campaign and sell it to the american people and that’s exactly what Fauxbama was saying.

Now I agree what was said and what people hear can often be too different things, and that’s the disappointing part of this nonsense. McCain has run his campaign quite effectively and criticized fauxbama justly and rightly, this sort of thing just cheapened it, and needlessly so. Surrogates and activists others would have made the conclusions being advocated here, even though it clearly was not what was met, there was no need for McCain campaign directly to knowingly and willingly take a quote out of context and misrepresent it like this.

I understand the advantages and benefits of doing it, but it wasn’t needed and just gives credence to what to date have been bogus claims of lying, misquoting and out of context charges made by the dems and their surrogates. Now they have a clear and obvious example where the campaign knowingly has done just that.

Very disappointing John, very very disappointing.

I am not arguing it was incredibly STUPID of Fauxbama.. it is just one more example of how damned unprepared this guy is for the white house. However, two wrongs don’t make a right.

Fauxbama stepped in it without a doubt on this line and would have to deal with the consequences one way or another, I just think McCain should have stayed above the fray on this one instead of clearly portraying the line as something other than it was.

It was a juvenile shot at the McCain campaign, but it was clearly not calling Palin a pig.

"It was a juvenile shot at the McCain campaign, but it was clearly not calling Palin a pig."

I'm sorry but I'm one of the ones who thinks Obama is smart ( in a deceptive way )...and he did this deliberately. He only plays a juvenile for the cameras when he needs too.

Do you really think he doesn't know that Palin said "lipstick" a few days ago?

Just words.

Ha! Too bad he didn't have little Steffy to wipe his nose. It should have gone like this:

Nobama: You can put lipstick on a pig.

Little Steffy: You mean pit bull.

Nobama: Uh, duh, right. You can put lipstick on a pit bull.

I think you are misled by the silliness of this.
McCain has forced Obama to give up his subliminal attack on Sarah as just a pretty face.
Of course Obama cannot attack her openly in that way without insulting millions of women,
so he has to attack her through some less optimum method- and he has to hide what he was really doing.

Seems like a legitimate two-fer to me.

Of couse he knows Palin said lipstick a few days ago.. go read my replies to others here. I have never suggested that Fauxbama did not knowingly choose to turn this phrase he absolutely did.

He did not however call Palin the pig, if anything he portrayed her as the lipstick and McCain/Bush as the pig in what he said.

Go read my other replies here, I’m tired of repeating myself. This was clearly a calculated move by Fauxbama to get the evening soundbite. However it was not calling Palin a Pig, that’s a clear misrepresentation of what was said.

It was stupid to choose to do this by him, no doubt as it will wind up costing him another few news cycles explaining himself, because the quote can so easily be taken out of context and portrayed as a direct attack on Palin as a pig, which it wasn’t.

I am not apologizing for anything... zealots here better wake up a bit. Not knowing who your friends are is a dangerous place to be.

Fauxbama’s an ass, and if you think I am some apologist for him I think you need to go search through the decade or so of posts I’ve had here.

I just don’t approve of a blatant out of context quote by the McCain camp. One of the biggest arguments libs make is that conservatives are liars and they misrepresent things. To this point in the campaign the McCain camp has done a very good job of making sure the critiques its thrown at Fauxbama are above board, and that’s important. You or other rabid conservatives may not like it, but its been a good campaign that has had a good solid message.

“I’m not question his patriotism, I’m questioning his judgement”... not making hay out of his religion, etc etc etc.. He’s done a very very good job of keeping the criticisms legitimate and deserved. This one though gives credence to those liberal claims that here to fore were baseless.

Let the talk radio pinheads make this an issue, because they will but for McCain to directly out of context use it to imply fauxbama was calling Palin a pig? That just disingenuous, and uncalled for.

I expect more and better from McCain than this, he can do better, there are pleanty of things to criticize Fauxbama for, where you don’t have to take a quote out of Context.

For example yesterday he decided to say “Drill baby Drill, what kind of stupid slogan is that, republicans out there chanting drill baby drill.” Now here he is mocking a position 70% of the people believe in and basically calling them stupid.. no need to take out of context, just him looking like an arrogant ass mocking the american people.

Keep it honest John, you don’t have to go where you did on this ad.
