Add to that the threats against Palin’s father, and several other charges that have been files against the trooper — one involved hunting without a permit, and I seem to also recall something about being intoxicated in his police cruiser.
From what I recall (read about this the night before she was chosen) they had originally given him a 10-day suspension, and the Union had a fit and reduced it to 5 days - despite the fact that the Security detail in charge of protecting the Governor had declared him a clear and present threat to the Governor and her entire family...
Also, just for good measure — none of this had anything to do with WHY she fired Moneghan. The reason she gave for firing him (not that she needed ANY reason at all as he served “at her pleasure”) is because he failed to properly file Troop Vacancy paperwork. She even went as far as to offer him a job in a different department of the State Government and he refused it...
Someone who actually knows Mr. Monegan posted elsewhere on FR that Gov. Palin transferred the man to a different department, but after that he resigned. He was not fired.
