Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae political donations
Los Angeles Times ^ | September 9, 2008

The federal takeover of mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae may stabilize the economy and help the housing industry. But politicians could take a hit, particularly Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

Employees of the government-sponsored firms, which own or guarantee half of the nation's mortgages, have donated almost $4.3 million to federal elected officials and their various campaign committees since 2005.

Obama is the largest individual recipient at about $112,000, federal campaign finance reports show.

One reason Obama has collected the most is that he has raised far more than any other federal candidate, $390 million so far. The mortgage money has not influenced Obama's stands, a campaign aide said.

The candidate has "consistently supported stepped-up regulation for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to ensure that instead of rewarding speculators who relied on the government to reap massive profits, taxpayers and struggling homeowners are protected," the aide said.

I am eagerly looking forward to our entire health care
system run by bureaucrats. After all just look at the
mess at Freddie Mac & Fannie May. These outfits are
fully backed by the full faith of the US government and
are infested with politically motivated operatives.

How do Jamie Gorlick and Louis Freeh go from being experts in national security and criminal investigation to become professional “bankers?

Is this like how every week Jethro Bodine was something else? A doctor one week and a double nought secret agent the next?

To bad you can’t 1) accept every government employees resignation on Inauguration Day and then see if they’ll stay on in a New Administration (if not notified you have a job after 60 days - don’t bother coming in) and 2) repeal all the tax exemptions and non-profit status granted every quasi-governmental Agency and 3) kick the UN out of America an dedicate the land Peace Park.

Let’s not forget that the Obamessiah has two former Fannie Mae Chairmen on his campaign team, advising him on economic and financial policy.
