Watch him on Youtube and see if you still have the same opinion.
No way. It was purposeful and deliberate. The clincher is that right after this he used the metaphor of a stinky OLD fish wrapped in a newspaper to express the same notion that Palin and McCain aren't change. Clearly he was making a play on Palin as a pig with lipstick and McCain as a stinky OLD fish. Those were the only two metaphors he used. It was either deliberate or really stupid. His own crowd whooped and cheered just like it was deliberate.
Actually, I was thinking of much stronger language.....banned language....but nonetheless very accurate descriptive language....
Just posted on Drudge!!!!!
Just like his campaign has never been behind the smear campaign against Sarah Palin almost from the minute McCain announced here. Riiiight....And I got a bridge in Alaska that I would love to sell you.
we still don’t have a comprehensive youtube. Just the lipstick part.
Obama thinks very little of women....anyone remember him calling the reporter SWEETIE....no outrage from NOW??
no excuses for this creep......
McCain has go to let the Guvnor loose.....she's go to start answering this crap....
btw....since Barry and Joey want to refer to the Guvnor as a former "mayor"...deriding her position, then I think we need to stop calling her Sarah as much as we call her Governor or at least Governor Sarah ......
she deserves our repect....
“This is a common phrase, and I doubt this controversy is going to go anywhere”
You have got to be kidding... There will be calls form him in his own party to step down as the nominee.
There is no way to spin this. The lipstick reference is unmistakeable. He will apologize or suffer another 5 point slip in the polls.
No, he wasn't. He was talking about the change that McCain/Palin offers the voters, so quit lying about it.
By the way, this is the SECOND thread I've seen you intentionally try to obfuscate this issue with Democratic talking points. Why?
I thought the same thing (”Oh Geez, another statement overblown detracting from the issues”) until I saw the full text.
See below. It’s pretty clear he was referring to Palin (the Pig) and McCain (the Old Fish). He thinks we’re too stupid to get who he’s talking about (or at least thinks he can plausibly deny it).
“You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It’s still gonna stink.”
“We’ve had enough of the same old thing.”
Are you kidding?
LOL
OF COURSE it’s an old saying, but clearly Obama is referring to Palin’s “pitbull with lipstick” remark in her convention speech.
Watch the entire thing on You Tube.
Even the crowd gets what he means.
Oh I think he knew exactly what he was doing. Too cute by half, making the inference without directly calling her a pig.
Lowlife.
That’s what I’m talking about: I have NEVER heard of a Law Review anywhere, any school, from podunk to Ivy League, whose Editor did not publish a high-viz law review article.
How can this be in Obambi’s case? And at Harvard no less?
One little known effect of this election is to put one of the final nails in the coffin holding the former reputation of the Ivy League schools, especially Harvard, Princeton and also Columbia.
Me too. Any strong defense of Palin in this case would just seem to get in the way. And—as with the MSM—when your oppenent is in the process of hanging himself, giving him a little more rope never hurts.
No, he was alluding to Sarah Palin’s famous line.
And now Biden is opening up a new attack about Palin being a step backwords for women.
The Axelrod Adjustment is to attack Sarah Palin whenever possible, now the McCain Camp should adjust.
