A new Public Policy poll has John McCain extending his lead over Barack Obama to a 50-45 margin in Florida, up from a three-point McCain edge last month. The pollsters say McCain's lead is mostly due to white voters shifting from "undecided" to "pro-McCain," with McCain now garnering 61 percent of the white vote to 34 percent for Obama. The Democrat is keeping it within range by dominating with black voters (88-10) and winning with Hispanics (49-42), a margin he'll likely need to improve if he plans to carry the state.
And like voters everywhere else, Floridians are wild about Sarah Palin, with 45% saying they are now more likely to vote for McCain because of his Veep choice, while just 36% say the same of Obama for his pick of Joe Biden.
The poll also found that U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez still has lots of work to do to shore up his 2010 re-election chances. Martinez' approval rating is just 23 percent, and the poll shows he'd lose 37-33 to either Rep. Allen Boyd, D-Monticello, or Ron Klein, D-Boca Raton. Previous surveys found Martinez trailing

Oh, and Melquidores Martinez needs to be given the hook in 2010, but that is for another day...
Small g god and we shouldn’t get too cocky. Still have a ways to go with some very dirty opponents.
I heard that Obama closed all of his offices in the south. With the exception of Virginia.
He is in full blown “Michael Dukakis” mode.
McCain really showed his gutsy leadership ability when he picked Palin. Obama not so much. In fact Obama really pooed in that pick. Face it the guy is a horrible leader and should not be elected as president of the United States of America.
“He is in full blown Michael Dukakis mode.”
At least Dukakis got a bounce from his convention.
You got that right,big time.
You got that right,big time.
Wasnt Dukakis still ahead by double digits at this point in 1988 ?
Keep your powder dry folks, keep your powder dry....LONG time till Nov. 5th(that’s for the RAT)...:-)
I think by September GHWB had tied Dukakis after Atwater went negative in August of 88’.
It looks like to me, Obama is being forced to pin himself down to Virginia, Penn, Ohio, Colorado and Michigan.
This is where he is going to camp out for 2 months.
Husseim has no chance in FL.with the seniors.
That sounds about right. It sounds like he's going to leave Florida to Hillary but isn't banking on winning the state.
This election is going to be won in Colorado, Nevada, and Virginia, it would appear (at least from the DEM perspective). If McCain-Palin somehow take one of MI, WI, or PA, he should win this election.

Ohio is looking very good for John McCain at the moment. Michigan is looking better and better.
I was speculating today, that Obama has a big problem on his hands, if McCain makes any of the Blue states competitive.
Obama may be forced to spend big money in New Jersey, Washington, Michigan, Penn, NH, Wi. those states are looking a little vulnerable. Bizarrely enough, McCain has started opening offices all over CA. Something about their internals showing a startling surprise.
“Husseim has no chance in FL.with the seniors.”
Poorer, Non-Cuban Hispanics also may not turn out for Obama because of the Hispanic Bradley Effect.
Not yet, the Obamaoistas are not done in FL...yet...Obamao just bought 9 million in local ad time in the Center of Florida..
If that doesn’t pan out, he will have to withdraw without a huge infusion of cash, to many diverse and expensive media markets.
And the whites are the racists ones because they won't vote for Obama.......
